Position: Litigation Law Clerk

Location: Vaughan/North Toronto - Steeles & Weston

Elia Associates PC provides a full range of Post-Development Condominium Law services to condominium corporations throughout Ontario. We see ourselves as unique in terms of the level of service we provide to our clients, our volunteerism within the condominium community at a National level, internally in creating a nurturing environment and having put together a team of extraordinarily talented lawyers, clerks and support staff.

We are now seeking another exceptional litigation clerk to join our team in Vaughan/ North Toronto.

**Primary Roles**:
Drafting, editing, and issuing correspondence to opposing counsel and to clients
Managing litigation deadlines and maintaining tickler system
Meeting with clients, swearing affidavits, etc.
Assisting with trial preparations
Coordinating service of materials
Attending to legal research
Filing
Typing / Transcribing

Providing overflow support to other lawyers within the firm / staff
Assisting with administrative matters
Providing personal assistance to lawyers
Copying / Binding / Delivery Arrangement

**Key Skills**:
Thorough knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure
Attention to detail
Typing (60+ WPM minimum)
Computer skills (knowledge of Office, including Word and Excel)
Communication - written and oral [English]
Spelling and Grammar (competent proof-reader/document drafter) [English]
Ability to prioritize assignments and execute within given timelines

Ability to work independently, follow instructions and take responsibility for work assigned
Organization
Professionalism

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week
(9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday with a one-hour lunch break)

Experience: 10 years experience in civil litigation

Education: Completion of Law Clerk’s diploma/certificate from an approved institution

Starting Salary: Commensurate with experience

Pay: $80,000.00-$90,000.00 per year

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday

**Experience**:

- Civil Litigation Clerk: 10 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Law Clerk's Diploma/ Certificate (preferred)
