Tourism Sarnia-Lambton is the Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) for Lambton County welcoming visitors from all over the world. It is our vision to foster a spirit of partnerships within Sarnia-Lambton to enhance tourism through programs, ideas and initiatives that will grow the tourism industry resulting in a greater economic impact for municipalities within the Sarnia-Lambton area.
**Position Overview**
This position is responsible for reception and visitor services work providing information to tourists and visitors and providing administrative assistance to departmental staff. Activities associated with the job include meeting and greeting visitors, handling store sales, providing information about tourist attractions, facilities, hotels, restaurants, and other services and handing out brochures and maps. Additional activities include assisting departmental staff with projects, programs, and events.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Responsible for the day-to-day customer service, opens and closes visitor centre, meets, greets and assisting visitors in an inviting environment, while collecting visitor statistics and creating a daily sales report.
- Handles store sales through the cash register and POS systems. Supports stocking, inventory, and product pricing.
- Process the ability to research, gain knowledgeable insight, information and trends from Lambton County tourism businesses and stakeholders, and share information with staff and visitors alike.
- Maintains brochure inventory.
- Assists with creating visitor packages.
- Manages the assembly room rental space, display spaces and meeting areas.
- Assists with travel guide advertising sales, and content creation.
- Maintains partnership databases, completing mail merges, preparing mail outs for distribution, and travel guide / map distribution.
- Supports all staff on projects, programs, and events, while ensuring that the office runs smoothly, with visitors and tourism stakeholders receiving excellent customer service and support.
- Supports offsite customer service and visitor services activities as required.
- Maintain office supplies and perform filing and record keeping as required.
**Qualifications**
Minimum Formal Education
- Two-Year College Diploma in Office Administration, and or
- Two-Year College Diploma in Hospitality & Tourism or the equivalent in combination of education and experience.
Experience
- Two-Year administration, (and or) Two-Year customer service experience.
- Knowledge of Lambton County is considered an asset.
- Computer experience including Microsoft Office products, Outlook, Internet, electronic database, digital platforms, etc.
- Working knowledge of general office equipment.
- Demonstrated customer service, oral, written, presentation and reporting communication skills and capacities.
- Must be able to drive and travel for purposes of employment
