Tripcentral.ca would like to hire a system administrator to help grow one of Canada’s premier online travel agencies. This position will involve varied job responsibilities with a primary emphasis on maintaining our network, server, and telephone infrastructure.

This is a full-time job that might require weekend or evening hours depending on situation and time of year. The position reports to the Director of Technology.

We’re looking for somebody who can operate independently, who likes solving problems and getting results. Someone who is detail oriented, but who can also see the big picture. The role is for a person that feels comfortable in being handed a problem and told “please solve this, I’ll check up on you in a week, I am here if you have any questions.”

We’re a small, close-knit team, so there are multiple tasks to be managed - from racking new VM cluster hardware to updating our backup procedures to configuring new antibot software for our forward web servers to acting as a resource for more junior staff.

This is what we need:

- 3-5 years of system administration experience in a production environment
- Excellent familiarity with Apache and MySQL
- Excellent familiarity with FreeBSD, Linux or other UNIXes
- Previous experience with mid-sized business level networking infrastructure
- Knowledge of core internet services - HTTP, TLS/SSL, SSH, SMTP, etc.
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies and techniques (VMWare experience is a bonus)
- Able to work both independently and in a team

Bonus points if you have these skills
- Scripting/Coding experience
- Familiarity with Avaya/Nortel phone systems, Cisco routers
- Network Security training/experience
- Support Experience with Windows and Windows Server
- Experience with Office 365 administration
