Learning Space Management (LSM) has a focus on learning space excellence with the mandate of stewardship of the University’s classrooms and testing space, encompassing all aspects including the delivery of academic activities through academic scheduling, classroom design, classroom technology, and accommodated testing. **Your opportunity**:
As a Technical Solutions Specialist, this role will be responsible for supporting and providing excellent customer service to faculty, staff and other users of the classroom technology provisioned in the instructional spaces used by the University community in pursuit of the curricular and co-curricular mission by gathering information from end-users to pinpoint issues and determine requirements. This position will sustain and manage the Opencast Content Capture Service (OCCS) and elements of various IT projects. It will also offer advisory support on IT matters and conducting training sessions for end-users on procedures and the utilization of supported IT systems.
Under the general direction of the Manager, Classroom Planning and Tech Services, the incumbent is responsible for maintaining network systems and server software and collaborating with other teams within LSM.
**Your responsibilities will include**:
- Provide assistance and upkeep for the Opencast Content Capture Service (OCCS) system
- Responding to service requests in a timely fashion, resolving issues within the defined scope of the role and escalating as required
- Adhering to established standards during the implementation of software and hardware and maintenance of departmental devices
- Creating complex and technical documentation and user support guides for OCCS and other IT systems
- Maintaining departmental asset inventory
- Executing precise technical procedures with meticulous attention to numerous details
- Oversee the onboarding and orientation of LSM staff, including scheduling and assigning work to a small groupin a limited area
**Essential Qualifications**:
- Bachelors’ Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science, or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
- Minimum four (4) years relevant experience, including working with classroom and computer systems, network IT systems, and Audio Visual technologies
- Experience diagnosing and addressing issues with systems, networks, and/or servers
- Experience directing the activities of and/or assigning work to casual staff (e.g. Classroom Ambassadors [CAs])
- Demonstrated ability installing and configuring endpoint devices with applied security measures
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work well under pressure and with tight deadlines
- Ability to work independently
