**The Role**
Reporting to the Director of Financial Services, the Accounting Manager is responsible for the management of accounting operations, financial reporting and budgeting of the School District. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

- Plans and directs the work of accounting department staff in the areas of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, School Accounting Support and Reception.
- Prepares quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with Public Sector Accounting Standards and Ministry of Education and Childcare regulations.
- Plans and leads the annual external and internal financial audits.
- Assists with the preparation of the annual operating budget and prepares quarterly forecasts of expenditures and revenues for presentation to Audit Committee.
- Responsible for daily cash management and banking needs of the School District, including related payment systems such as Clover in Schools.
- Maintains Schools and District’s GL accounts and accounting systems.
- Compliance with GST/PST laws, and annual submission of Charity tax return.

**Qualifications and Skills**
- Chartered Professional Accountant designation in good standing or an equivalent combination of education, training and work experience will be considered.
- A minimum of 5 to 7 years of progressive management experience in planning, organizing and directing the work of an accounting team, preferably in a large public sector or public education organization.
- Strong understanding and knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Standards.
- Advanced experience in Microsoft Office Suite in particular utilizing Excel. Previous experience using Power School Atrieve software is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability of effective change implementation resulting in improvements to service quality, productivity and systems efficiency.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
