- Position InformationThe Ottawa Hospital is seeking a dynamic leader to join its team in an exciting opportunity to serve as the Manager, of Occupational Health Services. The Manager role is responsible for providing leadership and direction to ensure effective and efficient Occupational Health Services including outbreak/exposure management of communicable illnesses, clinic services, and emergency response to crisis situations at the Ottawa Hospital. This role is responsible and accountable for providing leadership and direction for the Occupational Health and Wellness processes for staff, students, volunteers, and others. The Manager will develop, deliver and evaluate corporate strategies to manage the COVID door screening program, Occupational Health and Wellness services efficiently including new-hire onboarding, workplace exposures, and outbreaks related to communicable illnesses including COVID-19, early intervention and health promotion, health surveillance programs, analyze workplace injury/illness trends and education/training their staff.
This role will also be integral to upholding the vision of the Hospital, to provide each patient with the world-class care, exceptional service, and compassion that we would want for our loved ones.
- Basic Requirements- University degree in a related program or a combination of education and work experience;
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in leadership and management roles;
- Extensive experience in the field of occupational health and wellness, including experience in a management capacity in a fast-paced, unionized, multisite hospital environment;
- Broad knowledge of human resources practices, procedures, collective agreements, relevant jurisprudence and hospital policies and procedures;
- Broad and in-depth knowledge of modern managerial and leadership principles;
- Knowledge of the health care environment and an understanding of inter/governmental relations and accreditation standards;
- Knowledge of staff development and training principles and practices;
- Skilled at engaging and inspiring others toward a common vision;
- Leadership ability to manage, motivate and mentor a team of multidisciplinary professionals working in a fast paced, high level service environment;
- Ability to develop and implement short and long-term plans;
- Superior organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines and constantly shifting priorities;
- Ability to deal with confidential and politically sensitive matters and to exercise sound judgment in dealing with complex issues, resolving problems, and balancing interests;
- Superior mediation and conflict management skills to resolve complex employee health and behavioral issues;
- Highly developed presentation, communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Preferred Qualifications- Fluently bilingual in both official languages;
- Master Health Administration;
- Master of Science Nursing;
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP);
- Recognized safety certification or designation, including but not limited to COHN [C], CCPE, CRSP, CHSC, CIH, CSP, and ROH as Preferred Requirements.
