Reporting to the Director of Indigenous Affairs and working in collaboration with offices engaged in learner recruitment, the Coordinator will contribute to meeting the Indigenous Learner Admission Mandate of NOSM University through participation in a variety of recruitment activities. The Coordinator acts as an ambassador for NOSM learners, staff and faculty.

This position is covered by the Terms and Conditions of the OPSEU Unit 677 Collective Agreement (Unit 2). A copy is available on the NOSM University website.

**Responsibilities**:
Tasks may include but are not limited to the following:

- While primarily responsible for Indigenous learner recruitment, will assist and advise on all Indigenous Learner recruitment and retention programs.
- Develop programing and promotional materials to inspire youth and recruit potential applicants to NOSM University in a way that is responsive to a variety of prospective Indigenous learners.
- Coordinate the collection of marketing research and social media analytics that are used for the identification of target groups and trend analysis.
- Work closely with the Director of Indigenous Affairs and Admissions and Learner Recruitment to develop and execute the recruitment strategies and maintain prospect database.
- Represent and work collaboratively with Indigenous Affairs on the Laurentian and Lakehead Campuses.
- Lead the planning and delivery of events such as but not limited to Interview Weekend, Information Sessions and Workshops.
- Work collaboratively with Learner Affairs to execute the delivery of summer programs such as CampMed through collaboration with Indigenous Affairs, Francophone Affairs, Advancement, and other Units to recruit, promote and deliver a responsive and culturally safe experience.
- Actively recruit, select, orient and lead learners and postsecondary volunteers in understanding and executing their roles to support recruitment efforts in a culturally safe manner in order to support programming.
- Act as a role model of the organization’s values in daily work activities.
- Work collaboratively with other portfolios such as Learner Affairs to engage Indigenous communities, organizations, associations to discuss Pathways to NOSM University.
- Actively seek unique opportunities to recruit Indigenous learners in areas such as but not limited to K-12, postsecondary and in workplaces with high numbers of Indigenous allied health professionals.
- Travel with groups such as but not limited to the Aboriginal Postsecondary Information Program (APSIP), Ontario University Fair and work with organizations such as Ontario Native Education Council to encourage prospective learners to apply.
- Travel to local and regional High School Recruitment opportunities.
- Maintain and convene a Mentorship network of learners and alumni.
- Support learners, staff and faculty in school wide system navigation.
- Develop and maintain an Indigenous Learner success guide.
- Support and lead social media outreach to Indigenous communities, organizations and associations in Northern Ontario.
- Organize a contact list of mentors/tutors.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:
**Education**:

- An undergraduate degree in Indigenous Studies or a related field of study from a recognized Canadian institution with accreditation or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:

- A minimum of five (5) year of related experience.
- Effectively presenting to audiences in various age groups and contexts.
- Experience working in postsecondary Indigenous Affairs/Units is an asset.
- Event planning experience preferred.
- Must have Indigenous lived experience, as well as demonstrated experience working with Indigenous peoples, cultures and communities
- Post-secondary institutions and degree programs in Canada.
- Extensive experience with Indigenous peoples, cultures and communities
- Knowledge and understanding of the contemporary Indigenous and educational challenges and approaches.
- Ability to translate, interpret and articulate between the Indigenous and Non-Indigenous worldviews.
- Proven experience in coordinating various tasks under tight deadlines, ensuring quality and timeliness in the performance of professional commitments.
- Experience with social media for the purpose of recruitment.
- NOSM University and OMSAS admissions policies and procedures is an asset.
- Youth oriented marketing and communication strategies.
- Maintain confidentiality and use sound judgment in decision making.
- Understand the concept of conflict of interest.
- Work effectively while facing multiple tasks.
- Office practices and procedures as they relate to admissions and recruitment
- Ability to work individually as well as part of a team
- Knowledge of university administration policies and procedures is an asset
