New Directions for Children, Youth, Adults and Families Inc. is a non-profit community-based organization that works to provide responsive and individualized services that foster the hopes and dreams of people and their communities.
Regional Services provides a range of resources offered by New Directions in areas outside of the city of Winnipeg. These services include Adult Home share, 24/7 residential settings, Supported Independent living, and Outreach Support. Adult Family Supports and Outreach provides services for adults living in various settings including the family home, and transitional or long-term care facilities. The Outreach Worker is a role that focuses on building relationships, assessing the community’s needs, offering services, and overcoming challenges that may be faced during transition.

**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Deliver individualized training and care for individuals in compliance with healthcare professionals’ instructions and other specific guidelines
- Medication administration
- Handle crisis and emergencies according to protocol
- Accompany individuals to appointments/meetings with related professionals at the direction of the Supervisor
- Provide transportation to various locations throughout the community
- Complete all documentation as required (e.g. Incident Reports, shift logs, timesheets and mileage/expense claim forms)
- Perform household chores including but not limited to grocery shopping, meals preparation, cleaning, and budgeting
- Ensure Fire Safety and Public Health Standards are maintained
**JOB QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Valid First Aid & CPR
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI) certification and American Sign Language (ASL) are considered assets
- A valid Class 5 driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle
- Satisfactory reference check from one direct supervisor
**SKILLS & ABILITIES**:
- Ability to transfer knowledge and awareness into behaviors and expectations recognized as appropriate by members of identified cultures and by people with lived experience
- Effective problem-solving ability & strong communication skills
- The ability to work independently and as a part of a team
- Willingness to practise compassion, empathy, integrity and promote self-advocacy
- Basic computer proficiency
- Demonstrated understanding and ability to work with a person-centred care philosophy

The salary for this casual position is **$15.13 per hour**, based on education and/or experience.
