**Position Summary**:
The Manufacturing Leader of Steel Operations is responsible for overseeing day to day aspects of operations including safety compliance and improvements, product quality control and manufacturing operations. This role will ensure compliance to production and manufacturing policies and procedures that will ensure the achievement of Steel Operational KPI’s goals. The Manufacturing leader will play a lead role in fostering a healthy and positive culture with employees, promoting employee engagement and ensure clear communication. Focus on optimizing resources through spending time on the production floor working with the production teams and support staff to evaluate opportunities for continuous improvement. Safety and compliance to ESA standards are at the forefront of everyday operation.

**Position Qualifications**:
**Education & Knowledge**
- Knowledge and experience with equipment and machines
- Knowledge and demonstrated leadership experience in a participative management environment
- Knowledge of MIG welding and CWB standards - _Asset_
- Six Sigma/Black Belt - _Asset_

**Responsibilities**:
**Operations Management**

Provide overall shift to shift leadership for steel plant (production, planning, scheduling, inventor control and tactical procurement), leading these functions to deliver results, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction safely and on time.
- Assume responsibility for health & safety, quality, production process & equipment, maintenance, production reporting, executing schedules, and inventory management
- Maintain a safe working environment and ensure 100% compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, JHSC recommendations or MOL work orders, Company Safety rules and Good Manufacturing Practices
- Input and support to Senior Management in the development of long-term goals and objectives
- Develop and implement continuous improvement throughout the process
- Execute production schedules for on time delivery and meeting inventory targets
- Engage and foster productive relationships with other leadership and staff to foster synergy and overall organizational success
- Execute and ensure compliance to all auditing requirements including Safety, JHSC, Quality, Leader audits
- Ensure that all needs of the operations are identified, assessed, and met to support the ongoing performance of the division in an efficient and cost-effective manner
- Learns the features and functionalities of machinery, equipment and building for efficient operations and resolve challenges
- Work closely with Maintenance employees to ensure machine availably to meet preventive maintenance schedules and completion rate targets
- Continually assess and recommend if new equipment, machinery, or tools with enhanced features and functions are required
- Oversee the installation of new equipment and ensure routine PMs are completed for all machinery, equipment, and tools to streamline production and ensure prolonged functional life
- Problem solves to determine root cause along with developing and executing prevention measures

**People Management**
- Provide direction, coaching, support, leadership and development opportunities for the team to ensure appropriate skill sets are achieved and maintained in all aspects of the operation.
- Lead and mentor front line leadership to support their growth and career development
- Provide recommendations on overall personnel planning and crewing
- Develop and maintain a safety, quality, and performance-base
