Material Handler

**Reporting Manager**: Logistics Leader

**Location**: Wingham Distribution Yard, Steel Manufacturing - 71 North Street, Wingham, ON

**Position Summary**:

The Steel Material Handler is a key role, participating in all aspects of the production, ensuring all workstations remain populated with necessary parts, and aid the Welders and Machine Operators with production needs.

**Position Qualifications**:
Education & Knowledge
- Completion of Secondary Education or Equivalent (Asset)
- A valid Driver’s License
- A Forklift Certificate (may be obtained through employment)

**Skills**:

- Self-starter & Team Player
- Excellent time management
- Physical strength is required for manual material handling
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals

Experience
- 2 year of related experience in Material Handling

Communication
- Excellent English Communication skills (oral and written)
- Interpersonal skills

**Responsibilities**:

- Inside and outside material handling
- Maintaining adequate supply of materials at each workstation
- Support Welders and Machine Operators with productions needs
- Operate (and inspect) material handling equipment to transport materials to and from transportation vehicles to the warehouse and yard
- Ship, receive and record the movement of parts, supplies, materials and stock
- Sorts and quality controls incoming materials
- Inspect and verify incoming goods against invoices or other documents, record shortages and reject damaged goods
- Handle, move, load and unload materials by hand or material handling equipment
- Operate winches and other loading devices to load and unload materials onto and off trucks
- Unload and route goods to appropriate storage areas
- May perform other activities, such as opening containers and crates, filling warehouse orders, assisting in taking inventory and weighing and checking materials
- Inventory activities such as counting, weighing, sorting, packing and unpacking
- Opening containers and crates, fill orders, assist in taking inventory and weighing and checking materials
- Inspect and verify incoming goods against invoices or other documents, record shortages and reject damaged goods
- Clean truss surfaces and inspections as required
- Maintain internal, manual or computerized record-keeping systems
- Assist with company goals through optimization of productivity and material solutions
- Comfortable in a fast-paced working environment
- Other duties as assigned
