**The Opportunity**
We are growing Are you an individual that enjoys being hands on and at your best in a fast-paced environment? Merit Foods is looking for a motivated, self-starter Production Operator who wants to learn to join our team. This role is responsible for the operation of our production line and ensuring that our products meet our food quality standards and product specification. We will provide you with all of the training you need
**What you’ll do**:
- Safe and efficient operation of production equipment to include; oil/seed press, dryers and milling equipment.
- Perform equipment change-overs, CIP, clean-up operations and equipment set-up.
- Ensures effective operation of the equipment to achieve targeted daily production targets.
- Perform troubleshooting and minor repairs on machines.
- Complete quality checks startup checklists and paperwork during shift to maintain production and quality.
- Replace and change screens on necessary equipment.
- Communicates any changes in product flow, equipment malfunctions, shortages or deviations from specifications to Production Supervisor or maintenance
- Adhere to all company and plant polices related to GMP’s, Safety, work rules and standard operating procedures (SOP).
- Work together professionally in a team environment with coworkers and other department personnel.
- Collect routine product samples and perform routine integrity tests to ensure that product meets quality specifications
**Who is right for the role**:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
**Required**
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year working in a production capacity such as manufacturing, agriculture or warehouse ( food or dairy manufacturing is an asset but not required).
- Strong technical skills, ability to operate and understand equipment controls, touch panels and mechanical operations.
- A working understanding of food manufacturing acronyms (SQF, QA/QC, HACCP, SOP,5S, GMP, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret document such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Entry level to Intermediate level mathematical skills.
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to frequent changes.
- Ability to perform under pressure and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to use basic power tools required.
- A valid driver’s license
**Physical Demands**
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential function of this job.
- Regularly required to walk and stand for extended periods of time, bend, twist, climb stairs and maneuver around manufacturing equipment consistently throughout the shift.
- Exposed to changing noise levels and changing temperatures ( hot, wet, cold and humid)
- Required to climb heights ranging from 20 to 60ft and lift/or move up to 50lbs on a routine basis.
**Schedule Hiring for**:
- Monday to Thursday: 5:30am-4:00pm
