The Production and Packaging Operator role involves managing multiple production and packaging tasks, including the creation of yacht mops, operation of pack size machinery, precise product packaging, and handling drilling and riveting components. The position requires proficiency in operating various tools and machinery, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
1. Yacht Mop Work Center
- Create yacht mops with precision and attention to detail.
- Adhere to tight deadlines and work efficiently under pressure.
- Safely operate a wire spinner and a pneumatic hammer.
2. Packsize Work Center
- Operate the Packsize machine to create boxes for our products.
- Utilize basic math skills and a calculator to determine material square footage.
3. Central Work Center (Packaging)
- Package products accurately, following detailed work instructions.
- Ensure correct quantities are packaged and make decisions on box sizing to prioritize space and minimize waste.
- Use various power tools and hand tools including pneumatic staplers, cordless drills, automatic carton sealers, heat sealers.
- Stack and prepare finished boxes onto pallets for shipping.
4. Drill and Rivet Work Center
- Follow work order instructions to drill and rivet components effectively.
- Ensure the correct use of items listed on the work orders.
5. Additional
**Responsibilities**:
- Read and interpret work orders accurately.
- Operate machinery safely and effectively.
- Transport raw and finished goods using manual pallet jacks or forklifts.
- Regularly update supervisor on productivity levels.
- Clean work areas and maintain equipment as required.
- Adhere to safety protocols to ensure a healthy work environment.
- Continuously seek ways to improve processes.
- Perform additional tasks as needed.
**QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES**
- Grade 12 education is preferred
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment is preferred
- Experience with power tools and machinery is preferred
- Experience in operating a forklift an asset.
- Proficiency in basic math and computer skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to stay calm and focused in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to meet time targets outlined in work orders to support production efficiency.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
**WORK ATTRIBUTES**
- Stationed at the distribution centre: 1725 Sargent Avenue
- Shift hours are 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, however hours may change if necessary for the needs of the business.
- Must have clear criminal record check.
- Physically demanding, required to lift up to 50 lbs., and to stand for long periods of time.
- Must be comfortable working in a noisy and dusty environment.
- Must be willing to perform other jobs as required by organizational demands
- Must perform work to the highest quality standards
- Requires CSA approved (green label) safety shoes.
