We are looking to hire a dynamic and empathetic full-time **Director of Care (DOC) **to provide leadership and support to nursing staff in the Nursing Department engaged in the delivery of high-quality care services to our residents in a respectful, safe, and caring manner. In accordance with the policies and procedures of The Waterford Retirement Community.
- **Key Duties & Responsibilities**_
- Providing strong leadership and direction to the Nursing Department, fostering a positive and supportive work environment that promotes best practices and policies
- Developing and implementing policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure individualized resident care plans are developed, delivered, and renewed regularly
- Participating directly in the recruitment, orientation, training, performance evaluation, and coaching of memory care staff
- Overseeing the direction, efficacy, and effectiveness of various aspects of nursing department operations, e.g., documentation, medication administration, provision of direct care, and so forth
- Providing leadership support to various operational priorities, such as Falls Prevention, Infection Control, Palliative Care, Positive Approach to Care (PAC), Behaviour Management, and so on
- Responding promptly in a professional manner to concerns expressed by residents and family members; following-up after resolving these issues to avoid ongoing concerns
- Conducting quarterly audits of residents’ health files, seeing to it that all aspects of care services are documented according to Waterford’s policies and procedures
- Primarily day shifts (9:00 am to 5:00 pm), but may be occasionally required to cover alternative nursing shifts
- Availability for “On Call” assignments on alternating weekends with the Executive Director.
- **Qualifications**_
- Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) designation, with current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Minimum of 5-years’ progressive leadership experience in senior care, including supervisory or management roles, preferred
- Solid knowledge and understanding of regulations, standards, and best practices in senior care, including long-term care and assisted living
- Exceptional interpersonal communication and leadership skills
- Demonstrates sound judgment, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making abilities
- Attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining documents according to Waterford’s policies and procedures, Chief Nursing Officer standards, and legislative requirements
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach and commitment to senior care and wellbeing.

**Salary**: $80,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
