Symphony Senior Living is currently seeking a Director of Care with strong leadership skills and a caring heart.

**Job Requirements**:
Reporting to the Community CEO, the Director of Care (DOC) is responsible for the health and wellness of all Residents, as well as providing leadership to all members of the Wellness Team. The DOC will Oversee resident care/service needs and develops appropriate service plans. Develop and implement care assessments and service plans for each resident ensuring that their health and lifestyle needs are met, and assessments are RHRA compliant.
Operations Management
- Co-operates and co-ordinates services with community agencies and other health care providers
- Ensures financial decisions include consideration of the department’s budget and priorities.
- Manages and safeguards medication inventory and monitors the distribution of medications to the residents by licensed staff
- Coordinates the ordering and inventory management of resident care products including supplies and incontinence products.
- Key contact for and manages the house Doctor and Pharmacy relationship.
- Observes residents’ health status, taking actions to address concerns and reporting all significant changes to members of the Leadership Team as well as family members, as appropriate.
- Ensures monthly wellness reports are created and sent to residents and POAs.
- Ensures compliance with RHRA, workplace health and safety and other related regulations as appropriate.
Department Team Management
- Direct reports are the Resident Specialists, RS with Meds, RPNs and Team leads.
- Works in coordination with members of the Leadership Team to effectively communicate the Resident’s needs
- Creating department schedules for all nursing staff and overseeing the payroll entries
- Ensures the Wellness department staffing levels are in accordance with the variable staffing guide and appropriate from a competency and skill basis given the need
- Recruits Team Members creates work routines and assigns duties and monitors performance.
- Oversees and ensures that all aspects of the performance management and discipline processes are in keeping with SSL policies and legal requirements
- Ensures that all new Wellness Team Members receive an orientation in keeping with SSL expectations and policies
**Requirements**:
- RPN or RN in good standing with the Ontario College of Nurses
- 3 - 5 years Management Experience in a residential care setting
- Computer skills - advanced working knowledge with Word, Outlook.
- Up to date Standard First Aid and CPR
- Vulnerable sector clearance and clean police record.
- Ability to read, write and speak English.
- Covid Vaccination and ability to work through a pandemic or outbreak - cannot be immune compromised.
- Ability to work with animals dog, cats etc. We cannot accommodate allergies.
- Valid Driver’s License and access to personal vehicle.
- Sustained walking, sitting, standing, squatting
- Carrying (3.0 - 15 kgs)
- Varying lumbar and cervical rotation, as well as shoulder reaching
- Wrist must be capable of moving in all planes
- Various forms of grip, pinching and finger dexterity required
- Ability to respond effectively to inquiries, issues and concerns
- Short and long term memory capability
- Alertness, concentration, judgement and decision making
**Job Qualifications**:
- Compassion, Common Sense and Empathy required
- Strong team orientation
- Demonstrates a positive, flexible work style and approach to the implementation of change
- Must have a valid Ontario drivers license
- Must be licensed and in good standing with the Ontario College of Nurses
- Must be available to work every other weekend. And are required to work 1 evening or 1 night shift every 30 days.

- Due to our high level of residents with dementia; your tattoos and piercings must either remained covered by clothing or are discrete. Any other external body decoration, including hair, must not be frightening to a frail senior with dementia.
