About Backstage
Backstage is the largest talent marketplace for the entertainment industry, media, brand marketers, and other content creators, matching their creative projects with the best actors, voiceover artists, production crew, and other industry professionals. Employers around the world use our best-in-class technology to staff over 50,000 creative projects a year in film, television, commercials, branded content, theater, experiential marketing, and more.

**The Role**:
Backstage is seeking a Business Development Manager to manage a team of business development executives that are Industry Specialists, experts in their fields that are focused on key growth verticals, including specializations in understanding the needs of stakeholders hiring cast and crew for movie studio and TV network projects, creative agencies, UGC productions, commercials, voiceover projects, and more. In this role, you will specialize in specific verticals and regions of your own while also overseeing and supporting the outreach and sales activities of your team.

You and your team’s overall goal is to grow the number of clients posting jobs and casting calls on Backstage’s talent-marketplace career platforms (including Backstage, Mandy, and StarNow). Our business development team consists of 12 business development executives and is part of Backstage’s larger Casting Department. The Casting Department includes account managers, casting editors, website admins, content specialists, business development executives, and customer service representatives working across nine countries - all specialized in the hiring and casting needs of creative projects. We value autonomy and collaboration equally, and foster a culture where we trust our team members to execute on their own volition, while working collaboratively towards mutual goals.

As a Business Development Manager specializing in key verticals, you will play a pivotal role in driving growth and expanding our client base within the dynamic and rapidly evolving entertainment, advertising, content-creation industries. Your primary focus will be to understand the unique casting and talent acquisition needs and hiring challenges faced by the clients and prospects within your and your team’s areas of expertise, leveraging this knowledge to identify business opportunities and generate high-quality leads and new clients. In this role, you will not only cultivate relationships but also position yourself as an industry expert while promoting our platform as an essential resource in the ever-evolving entertainment and advertising landscape.

As a Business Development Manager in the Casting Department, your primary objectives are to manage a high-performing team and expand our client base and drive the creation of new job posts, including casting calls and related opportunities for talent. Our clients include production companies, directors, brands, agencies, and content creators who are staffing projects for film/tv, commercials, theater, marketing campaigns, and more. In this role, you’ll be identifying and reaching out to leads, educating and onboarding new clients, and building cohesive, collaborative and dynamic relationships with new and existing partners.

The Business Development Manager will report to our Director of Business Development & Customer Service. Compensation for this role is structured as the listed base salary range plus commission.

**What You’ll Do**:

- Manage a team of Business Development Executives to ensure they are delivering against a clear set of objectives set by you and the Business Development Management Team
- Manage direct reports to support, drive, and deliver all Backstage Business Development roadmaps and strategies.
- Support and mentor direct reports to produce micro-strategies on identified growth verticals, sub-verticals, and categories
- Support direct reports to ensure all pitches are tailored to the employer type
- Coach, mentor, and develop direct reports, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities.
- Undertake direct reports’ appraisals identifying any support and training needs.
- Create and maintain business development strategies for internal and external opportunities - you will operate at times autonomously whe
