Active Start Program Instructor

The Granite Club is looking for a part time Active Start Program Instructor who will provide a safe, stimulating environment for the children in the Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) and Active Start programs at the Granite Club.

Primary Responsibilities
- Safe sign-in and sign-out; be on time for shift and ensure assistance to your team in preparing all materials and fundamental information for the day.
- Assist children in getting ready for activities and ensuring they are on time for activities.
- Provide a safe and fun environment for the campers
- Assist in making daily/weekly progression reports of each child’s physical literacy and development throughout the program, and ensure individual adaptations and accommodations are provided to create an inclusive environment
- Ensure rules are adhered to, especially Club and Program Standards
- Clean areas at the end of each activity/ program
- Ensure children eat snack and sit with them - ensure allergies and dietary restrictions are respected; model positive eating habits and encourage recycling
- Always ensure to dress appropriately to follow Club conduct.
- Administrative tasks such as assisting in: keeping accurate attendance lists and turning them in to the LTAD Active Start Coordinator at the end of each program session, ensuring each child has a Participant Form handed in
- Ensure First Aid kit is up to date and with program group at all times
- Be aware of all the information on participant forms such as alternate pick-up people, allergies, and emergency contacts.
- Provide feedback to LTAD Active Start Coordinator when necessary
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Grade 12
- Current valid CPR/First Aid Training Certification
- A responsible, patient person who must have a genuine love for children
- Experience working with children; pre-school age to youth would be considered an asset (2-12 years old)
- Knowledge and/or experience of the Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) Model would be an asset
- Previous experience as a coach/fitness trainer would be an asset
- Previous experience with at least one of the following would be an asset: Tennis, Squash, Badminton, Fitness, TRX, Yoga, Circuit Training, Boxing, Ball Sports, Swimming, and Nutrition.
- Previous experience as a children’s program instructor is an asset.
