**ABOUT THE CLPNA**:
The College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) is a non-profit regulatory organization. The CLPNA exists to protect Alberta healthcare users. Our first responsibility is to the public. We regulate the profession of Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), setting and maintaining standards to ensure the public receives safe, competent, and ethical healthcare services. Our focus and commitment to public protection and regulatory excellence underscores everything we do. The CLPNA has partnered with Alberta Health to lead the development and the continued operations of the Alberta Health Care Aide (HCA) Directory. In Alberta, HCAs are not a regulated profession, although HCAs will become regulated under the Health Professions Act in the future.

**THE ROLE**:
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- **Writing and Editing -**Review and edit curriculum documents to ensure correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, verb tense, and formatting, resulting in professional, readable, and high-quality educational material. Ensure clarity, consistency, and accuracy across all curriculum and supporting documents—including learning and instructor content, and assessment tools—by aligning with regulatory and policy requirements upon HCA regulation as well as CLPNA policies.
- **Curriculum Quality Assurance -**Enhance the overall quality and usability of curriculum materials by aligning language and terminology with healthcare conventions. Identify and communicate errors, inconsistencies, or required editorial changes to maintain the integrity of the curriculum content. Enhance readability and instructional effectiveness of the curriculum by providing constructive editorial feedback to help meet the required learning objectives of the project and enhance the learner experience. Ensure all developed content complies with copyright law by accurately sourcing third-party content to ensure ethical and legal standards are met.
- **Documentation -**Maintain the organizational and version control of all documents within the curriculum repository to support efficient workflow and ensure up-to-date, accurate content is accessible throughout the editing process.
**SKILLS & ABILITIES**:
As an HCA Curriculum Editor, you play a key role in the review and revision of the Alberta HCA Provincial Curriculum. You have extensive experience and expertise as a writer and editor. You are passionate about proofreading and have a solid understanding of editorial concepts that articulate well with curriculum content.
You are exceptional with managing multiple tasks, adhering to milestones, standards, and deadlines. You are goal-oriented and able to work independently as well as with a team with a positive, professional, and solution-oriented attitude. You understand the importance of confidentiality, exercise good judgement, and demonstrate sound decision-making skills.
**EXPERIENCE**:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree with specialization in a related field (i.e., English, Journalism, Communication, Publishing, Education, or Professional Writing).
- Minimum of eight (8) years experience working as an editor or in a related field.
- Experience with healthcare sector communication is an asset.
**OTHER QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Strong working knowledge of 7th ed. APA formatting.
- Demonstrated PC/computer skills with solid understanding of MS Office.
- Must speak, read, and write English fluently.
- Satisfactory professional and criminal reference checks.
- Must be eligible to work in Canada.
