Community Support Worker

**Stepping Stones Crisis Society**, founded in 1982, has been providing support to Cold Lake and surrounding area for women and children fleeing domestic and family violence.
Stepping Stones Crisis Society is seeking a full time permanent **Community Support Worker **to join their team.
The Community Support Worker is responsible for providing public awareness and education to the community surrounding issues of family violence and bullying. In addition, this role supports in developing and maintaining active outreach programs and case management while ensuring that follow-up services, referrals and practical supports are in place to assist clients.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Identify potential outreach clientele and accept referrals
- Develop an active outreach caseload by assessing clients’ needs for safety, legal support, health, education, community connections, and other supports
- Support clients individually, in family, or in other small groups regarding plans for meeting needs
- Facilitate client focused and trauma informed group sessions based on a pre-determined schedule
- Facilitate community education programs and initiatives to increase awareness of family violence, healthy relationships, bullying, and related topics
- Assist Director of Programs to develop client focused programming to support skills development
- Provide support and advocacy to community and clientele
- Provide information, support, advocate for and refer clients to community resources, human services and other organizations as needed
**Qualifications and Requirements**
- Registered Social Worker (Degree), post-secondary education or equivalent qualifications will be considered
- 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role and/or working knowledge of the dynamics of family violence, addictions, suicide and other social issues
- 1-2 years of recent experience in group facilitation or public speaking
- Ability to relate to clients in a non-judgmental manner, and to respect client confidentiality
- Experience in handling emergency situations, conflict resolution, crisis intervention, and case management
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and leadership skills
- Ability to effectively communicate and represent the organization. Work independently and as part of a team
- Clear Criminal Record Check and Child Welfare Check
- Standard First Aid/CPR, ASIST Certification, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training is considered an asset
- Valid Class 5 Driver's license free from any restrictions
