Team Leader – Disability Supports (Full‑Time) Taproot Community Support Services – an employee‑owned, Certified B‑Corporation delivering community‑based services across Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario. We support 1,600 children, youth, families and people with diverse abilities through more than 125 community‑based services each year, with revenues exceeding $50 million. Program Overview The Supportive Independent Living program is located in Slave Lake, AB, and encourages persons with developmental disabilities to maximize their independence, develop their unique strengths and enjoy community integration through social, recreational and community activities. Position Overview The Team Leader provides direct supports for persons with developmental disabilities or other mental health concerns and supervises staff at multiple program sites, ensuring high‑quality physical, behavioural and emotional supports. This is achieved through hiring and scheduling staff who are trained and committed to delivering service excellence, developing and monitoring Individual Service Plans (ISP), and working directly with the persons served and their families/care teams to develop a safe, goal‑oriented program. Scheduling Monday through Friday 08:30‑16:30 Direct Support: 20 hours per week working directly with persons served Supervision: 20 hours per week overseeing staff and program operations On‑call and after‑hours support as needed In Your Role You Will Provide frontline supports in the programs and supervision/program administration duties (scheduling, supervision, training, reporting, etc.) Work a combination of days, evenings and weekends, as required Manage the daily operation of the program(s) (facilities, equipment and staffing) Ensure comprehensive and accurate recording and reporting of information (e.g. daily logs, incident reports) Approve time sheets and related payroll documents Complete staff performance reviews, improvement plans and individual support plans Be available for on‑call rotation Prior to confirmation of employment, all applicants must provide a copy of a current Criminal Record Check and/or Government Screening Letter Qualifications Diploma or Degree in Disabilities Studies, Social Work, Human Services, Special Education, Psychology, Sociology, Nursing, Management or related field Minimum 2 years management/supervisor experience Minimum 5 years’ experience providing residential service to persons with developmental disabilities and complex needs (Disability Support Worker, Healthcare Aide, LPN, etc.) Knowledge of developmental disabilities; specialised training is an asset Experience writing and implementing program plans and goals is an asset Valid Class 5 driver’s licence, clear driving abstract and vehicle First Aid/CPR Certificate Competency in Non‑violent Crisis Intervention, Medication Administration, Abuse Protocol, Proactive Procedures and Behavioural Strategies, Foundations and Disabilities Training Leadership and crisis‑management skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work with multiple persons served and staffing teams Calm, confident, patient, self‑motivated and a positive role model Benefits & Perks Employee ownership from day one through our Employee Ownership Trust, with opportunity for profit‑sharing dividends Competitive wages and salaries Paid vacation, benefits and a matching RRSP plan (eligible employees in Alberta) Learning and career development opportunities, including professional development and job‑related training Employee and Family Assistance Program Long Service Milestone rewards and employee referral bonus program A values‑driven workplace – as a Certified B‑Corp, we are committed to using business as a force for good We recognize that equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) is an important element in our work and in our day‑to‑day lives.
