**Events Manager**

**Location**: 11738 Kingsway NW, Edmonton, Alberta

**Position Status**: Full Time (40 hours/week), Permanent

**Key Responsibilities**
- Establish planning committees, as required, that are tailored to the specific needs and objectives of each event, ensuring committees are in place to assist in event execution.
- Oversee and provide direction to committees to ensure events run smoothly according to projected timelines and objectives.
- Develop and implement strategies to continuously improve experience at events for both employees and citizens, ensuring a consistently high level of satisfaction with each event.
- Create, manage, and optimize event budgets to ensure all events are executed within financial limitations by efficiently allocating resources and implementing cost-saving measures.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with vendors to coordinate and/or negotiate services including, but not limited to, venues, catering, guest speakers, and audio-visual.
- Collaborate with the Hospitality Manager, as required, to coordinate in-house resources, such as conference rooms and use of kitchen facilities.
- Collaborate with the Communication and Citizen Engagement Department to promote and publicize citizen-focused events, coordinate the creation of print materials, and arrange for event photography and videography.
- Collaborate with the Employee Engagement and Wellness Coordinator to develop innovative strategies that align employee engagement with events, as required.
- Oversee event setup, logistics, day-of operations, and post-event teardown to ensure a seamless experience for all attendees.
- Collect feedback, assess event success, and create detailed reports to use for future event planning.
- Assist with the administration of MNA departmental initiatives.
- Maintain organized filing systems for both electronic and physical records, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
- Provide additional support, as required, to ensure the Executive Department meets its goals and objectives.
- Develop and maintain constructive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, including leadership, staff, and business and community partners.
- Maintain a high level of political awareness, cultural sensitivity, professionalism, and confidentiality in interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
- Present a positive and professional image of the organization when interacting with employees, clients, visitors, and other external stakeholders.
- Other duties as required or assigned.

- Strong sense of ethics, professionalism, and political and cultural sensitivity.
- Knowledge of Métis history, culture, and issues affecting Métis people. An in-depth understanding of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government is an asset.

**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary education in Event Management, Hospitality, or related field. A combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.
- Minimum three years’ experience in a similar role, with proven event planning experience.
- Minimum two years’ experience in a leadership role, leading a team of direct reports.
- Experience working in an Indigenous and/or non-profit setting is an asset.

**Other Requirements**
- Position is based in Edmonton; in-office presence is required.
- Ability to work a regular schedule of Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM.
- Some evenings and weekends are required to carry out events.
- Reliable transportation and a valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
