St.Amant is a non-profit organization, offering programs & services throughout Manitoba which support over 1600 children and adults with developmental disabilities and autism, and their families. Jordan's Principle is a child first and needs based principle that applies equally to all First Nations children residing on and off reserve. It ensures there is no denial or delay for First Nations Children in receiving essential public services that are available to all other children.
St.Amant embraces the goal of Jordan's Principal to ensure that all children with disabilities have access to the health and social services they need in their community. We are currently recruiting a Social Worker to support this initiative.
This position is based in Winnipeg with travel to Indigenous communities throughout Manitoba.
**Position Summary**:
Working within Clinical Services at St.Amant, the Jordan's Principle Social Worker will take an active role in promoting service and developing creative strategies to work with families and systems. The Social Worker promotes a positive, nurturing environment for the family and works toward strengthening the community of support, enhancing knowledge, skills, and family stability using a family-centered approach. The Social Worker is responsible for evaluating effectiveness and efficiency of the support to ensure positive and beneficial outcomes to families. The Social Worker will provide direct clinical and consultative services to individual and families with a community focus.
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Degree from an accredited university
- Registration with the Manitoba College of Social Workers
- A minimum of 2 years social work experience
- A valid Manitoba driver's license and a reliable vehicle
- Ability to travel and work flexible hours as necessary
- Previous experience working within Indigenous communities/cultures is an asset
- Knowledge of an Indigenous culture and language would be an asset
- Knowledge of the history of services to people with disabilities, current trends, philosophies and practices concerning their care, education and lifestyles
- Non-violent Crisis Intervention, CPR, and First Aid training are assets
- Bilingualism in French and English is an asset
