**Position Description**

Reporting to the Director of Programs, the Program Coordinator oversees the planning, implementation, management, and evaluation of CAN programs in the Fraser Valley (including but not limited to Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Langley and Mission). They are responsible for identifying and fostering relationships with various community partners, advising on the strategic priorities and community needs in the area, representing CAN in the community when needed, and supporting the hiring, training, and supervision of program staff, among other various tasks.

**Key Functions**

**Program Coordination and Oversight**
- Oversee the day-to-day operations and activities of assigned sport and recreation programs, including program development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Manage and monitor an assigned annual budget.
- Plan seasonal program schedules based on CAN’s budget and strategic priorities.
- Book and be the primary contact for facilities that host CAN programs.
- Visit programs to support staff, interact with members and ensure quality control (use of support strategies, safety, caregiver communication, etc.)
- Work closely with other departments and meet deadlines to provide program details for promotional material, program guides, annual reports, and social media posts.
- Assist with the planning, staffing and execution of events related to assigned programs and facilities.
- Collaborate with other Coordinators and departments to evaluate programs seasonally to identify delivery gaps, program challenges and curriculum needs.
- Maintain program records and develop policies and procedures to support positive and safe program delivery.

**Staff and Volunteer Management and Training**
- Supervise and provide leadership and support to CAN program staff and volunteers to ensure they are following CAN policies and procedures and delivering CAN programs to the highest standard
- Determine the number of staff and volunteers needed for programs
- Support HR to fill vacancies by conducting interviews and identifying high-performing staff with necessary experience, skills, and education
- Support the Training department to ensure that mandatory training requirements are successfully completed by all staff seasonally
- Deliver regular trainings to new and returning staff in support of the Training department
- Act as primary contact and support for Onsite Supervisors; assist in navigating CAN processes, sensitive member conversations and opportunities for mentorship and professional growth
- Collaborate with HR department to manage staff performance issues and address concerns regarding policies, procedures and expectations of program staff and volunteers
- Support HR and Training departments to identify skill and knowledge gaps in staff and volunteers and make recommendations for training
- Lead seasonal program staff placement process and determine staffing needs based on CAN program guidelines
- Support Onsite Supervisors to provide support and performance feedback on a regular basis to program staff and volunteers

**Community Partnerships and Training**
- Build and maintain community partnerships to support CAN programs
- Deliver training to community partners affiliated with assigned programs
- Be an ambassador for the organization by attending CAN programs and representing CAN at community events, as needed
- Develop and maintain meaningful relationships with program partners, including facilities, like-minded organizations, government, donors, families, and program facilitators

**Administration & Other Duties**
- Participate and represent CAN at events (e.g., major events, fundraising), as needed
- Contribute as a member of the CAN Programs team to additional projects and activities, as required
- Attend regular in-person and teleconference meetings including weekly check-in meetings with Director and other department leads, and bi-weekly all-staff meetings, as well as some annual in-person events in Vancouver

**Qualifications & Experience**
- Degree, diploma or certificate in a relevant discipline preferred (such as education, exercise science, recreation therapy, psychology, special education, kinesiology, and other similar fields)
- Previous experience in sport and recreation program coordination preferred
- Experience with supporting Autistic individuals and knowledge of behaviour support strategies strongly preferred
- Experience working in CAN programs an asset
- Valid BC Driver’s license; personal vehicle an asset
- Knowledge of and existing connections with organizations and facilities in the region an asset
