Job Summary
The University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine's Division of Continuing Professional Development (UBC CPD) is responsible for the continuing education and professional learning of practicing physicians and other healthcare providers in BC. The Program Coordinator is a key member of the UBC CPD education team. As such, the incumbent contributes creativity, project coordination skills, and educational expertise in order to grow the educational delivery capacity of the Division and meet the CPD needs of physicians and other healthcare professionals. This position is responsible for coordinating the design and delivery of CPD courses and events (live, videoconference, and online). Specifically, this position will involve coordinating activities with various project partners, including the Rural Coordination Centre of BC, Health Authorities, and Divisions of Family Practice. The incumbent works under the direction of the UBC CPD Project Managers. The incumbent assists the organization in seeing and facilitating new opportunities for the UBC CPD Program portfolio and other CPD initiatives and fosters partnerships with organizations concerned with medical practice and practice improvement. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for supporting the development of plans to identify learning needs for practitioners and implementing programs to meet these educational needs, with a specific eye to new and innovative methods of delivery.
Organizational Status
The Program Coordinator reports to the UBC CPD Project Manager. The incumbent works in close alliance with other Coordinators, Project Managers, Research Assistants, Program Assistants, Administrative Assistants, physician consultants, Medical Directors, the UBC CPD Director, the Associate Dean of CPD, and the Conference & Operations team.
This individual interacts with various UBC departments, hospital departments, funding agencies, physician organizations, and university faculty, as well as physicians and other health professionals in practice.
Work Performed- Assesses perceived and unperceived learning needs for BC physicians- Implements and coordinates courses/programs/workshops for practicing physicians and other healthcare professionals- Develops evaluation strategies and plans, and implements evaluation activities- Builds understanding of medical context and develops appreciation for key factors affecting medical practice- Builds networks and maintains a close working relationship with key project partners (e.g., BC Health Authorities, CME Coordinators, UBC CPD Medical Leads, and other key provincial and national partners)- Supports and integrates other UBC CPD initiatives and educational opportunities- Provides outreach and educational expertise that guides project development and agenda formulation- Produces quarterly and annual reports, as required- Drafts publications and conference abstracts and presents evaluation and research findings- Identifies groups with similar education mandates to collaborate on joint education initiatives, including rural skills enhancement education (e.g., Rural Education Action Plan)- Coordinates with stakeholders, course directors, and UBC CPD management to develop sustainable closer-to-home programming- Identifies opportunities for program growth and innovation- Develops and writes program marketing and learning materials, collaborating with Digital Marketing and Creative Learning teams as needed- Maintains updated course inventory and- Develops and disseminates program policies and guidelines with both external and internal parties- Responds to inquiri
