ABOUT US:
Black Arts Vancouver is a community organization focused on leading Black-led programming in Vancouver, BC. We hold events and workshops centred around Black expression and Afro-Canadian history at no cost to families and youth, and we are dedicated to uplifting Black artists in Vancouver with paid and volunteering opportunities.

This role involves researching, drafting, and submitting grant proposals to help our organization secure funding from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.

This is a four-month contract beginning in January 2026 with the opportunity for renewal. The maximum 2 hours/month time commitment includes monthly, remote-friendly board meetings, committee work or strategic planning sessions, occasional document review, community engagement, or mentorship. Responsibilities and opportunities will grow as our organization continues to expand.

**Responsibilities**:

- Grant proposal research - identifying and organizing relevant funding opportunities that align with our mission.
- Working with our treasurer and accountant to ensure accurate budgets for grant proposals.
- Deadline management - maintaining our grants calendar to track submission deadlines and grant requirements.
- Grant reporting & record keeping - tracking the use of funds and outcomes achieved for preparation and submission of any post-award reports.
- A post-secondary degree in English, Comms, Public Relations or Non-Profit Management (minimum: highschool diploma or equivalent.)
- Writing, storytelling, editing, and budgeting skills.
- Experience in nonprofits, fundraising, and/or community development.
- Experience compiling data and program outcomes in support of funding requests.
- A deadline driven attitude, organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work independently.
