The SSMD Development Team strives to meet or exceed the support needs for the Faculty’s strategic priorities, now and in the future. In support of that mission, the Development Team fosters and enhances relationships with the SSMD donor community; matching Western’s academic objectives and financial needs with the highest philanthropic aspirations of donors. **Responsibilities**: The Development Assistant is an essential member of the Development team who provides administrative, research and information management support for all facets of development activities, including solicitation, donor relations and stewardship at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry (SSMD). The role will provide support to senior leaders and development staff to assist them in their fundraising activities, and will ensure that accurate and current constituent information is available. The Development Assistant will also provide a point of contact for alumni, friends and donors, produce documents and correspondence, and manage multiple priorities to ensure that work is completed within deadlines to prioritize and focus the Development team’s fundraising efforts to achieve the campaign goal. **Qualifications**: - Education: - 2 year Community College Diploma in Business Management/Administration required **Experience**: - 2 years’ administrative and customer service experience, providing support to a number of leaders and staff in a business office setting required - Experience in a fundraising and/or alumni relations and development environment preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: - Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple projects independently while maintaining accuracy - Ability to meet deadlines and ensure all details are handled while dealing with multiple interruptions and last minute changes - Ability to take initiative and work collaboratively with academic and administrative staff, alumni, students and volunteers - Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards and to treat information with discretion - Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals - Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the confidence dealing with all levels of an organization - Ability to establish and build healthy working relations and partnerships with clients, and peers - Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure with the ability to prioritize work - Proven ability and natural inclination to interact with people in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner **Union Statement**: **Western Values Diversity**: **Please Note**: We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those chosen for an interview will be contacted.
