- As the Leader of Policy and Strategy, you will represent Assessment & Tax (A&T) at all levels of government, industry and jurisdictions across Canada to ensure regulatory changes benefit both the City of Calgary and its citizens. You will oversee the creation and decide in coordination with the Director's office which reports and policies will go to council. You will also be responsible for the strategic direction and overall management of the Policy and Strategy section. Primary duties include:

Advocacy to other levels of government, industry and liaise with jurisdictions across Canada to ensure regulatory changes that benefits both The City of Calgary and its customers.
- Build and foster relationships as A&T's liaison and have strong negotiations skills to influence others.
- Anticipate and respond to reputational and other challenges experienced by A&T and The City.
- Ensure that A&T's practices and policies are compliant to the Municipal Government Act (MGA), its ancillary regulations, Council and Administration policies.
- Monitor and report on the performance and compliance of the Property Assessment service to internal groups (for example: A&T Management Team, Tax Provision Steering Committee), including accountability reporting.

**Qualifications**
- A degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Public Policy, or a related field and at least 8 years of experience in strategic business planning; OR
- A master's degree in Law, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Public Policy, or a related field and at least 4 years of experience in strategic business planning.
- Experience in leading and supervising a team is preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
- Extensive experience in legislative compliance and policy development, advocacy; particularly to different levels of government and change management.
- Knowledge and/or experience in real estate assessment, appraisal, or development are strong assets.
- Success in this position requires excellent strategic, critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
