**Summary**:
The Policy Analyst will support the advancement of policy goals identified by Enough for All stakeholders by conducting public policy research, creating collateral materials such as letters, blogs, and policy briefs, and providing backbone support to the Calgary Social Policy Collaborative. This role requires an individual experienced in policy research, writing, and development, with strong skills in professional writing and the ability to analyze data.

**Position: Policy Analyst**
- This position is a four-month parental leave cover, with the possibility of extension. A temporary employment contract or consultancy agreement may both be considered._

**Background**:
Vibrant Communities Calgary (VCC) is a non-profit organization that works collaboratively with stakeholders and partners to engage Calgarians and to advocate for long-term strategies that address the root causes of poverty in Calgary. VCC is the steward of the Enough for All Strategy, working to make poverty history in Calgary. It aims to ensure that Calgary is a strong, supportive, and inclusive community, where everyone has sufficient income and assets to thrive, and where all Indigenous people are co-creators of Calgary's future.

**Key Responsibilities**:
- Draft policy and advocacy products in a timely manner, including policy briefs, summary research reports, letters of advocacy, information memos, etc.- Provide analysis on government budgets and relevant government strategies.- Provide research, writing, and coordination support to the Calgary Social Policy Collaborative.- Support in the development of communication materials on policy.- As needed, represent VCC at external meetings and community events where relevant policy areas are discussed.

**Skills and Qualifications**:
- Highly skilled in both written and verbal communication, with experience writing research reports and policy briefs. Your work is compelling, clear, and concise.- Political astuteness and knowledge of government processes and policy formulation.- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines at once.- Ability to organize and analyze numerical and statistical data.- Ability to analyze regulation and legislation to identify strengths or gaps.- Willing to dig deep for information, make connections, and seek new ideas and solutions from other jurisdictions.- Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.- Committed to poverty reduction in Calgary and knowledgeable about the root causes of poverty and poverty reduction strategies.- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

**Education**:
- Master’s degree in public policy or equivalent combination of education and experience.- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or a related field such as economics or finance.- Public policy training is also considered an asset.

**Compensation**:
- Competitive compensation based on experience and length of term. Compensation is available upon request.
