**Title**: Practice Manager, Primary Care
**Salary**: $97,462 - $108,928 - $114,661 per year (pay range explained below)
**Contract**: This position is a 2-year term with the FNHA. When the term position ends with the FNHA, it is intended that this position will be offered as a permanent role with the es zúmin’ Primary Care Clinic.
**Hours**: Standard hours - 37.5 Hours per Week
**Location**: Mount Currie, BC (Occasional travel to Vancouver and travel relatively frequently to the Southern Stl'atl'imx communities, which are up to 3 hours away by road)

**FNPCI Initiative**
The First Nations-led Primary Care Initiative (FNPCI) aims to improve access to primary health-care services for First Nations people across BC in a way that is culturally safe and closer to home. The FNPCI is part of the province’s primary care strategy, which is integrating team-based care in communities throughout B.C. and changing the way primary care is delivered with the creation of primary care networks in partnership with the Regional Health Authorities.

In order to meet the health and wellness needs of First Nations people, it is very important that primary care is culturally safe and culturally informed where Indigenous ways of knowing and being are woven into services.

One of the main objectives of the FNPCI is to develop new First Nations-led Primary Health Care Centres in rural and urban locations across the province. The centres will provide access to culturally safe, quality primary health care services for First Nations people and their families. The aim is for clients to feel safe, welcomed, valued, respected and heard when they access care services at one of these centres.

**About the centre**
The es zúmin’ Primary Care Centre, is a BC First Nations-led Primary Care initiative in the FNHA Southern Stl’atl’imx sub-region, that aims to improve access to primary health care services and traditional wellness services for First Nations people in a way that is culturally safe and closer to home. This region extends 150 km from N’Quatqua in the north to Tipella (Xa’xtsa/Douglas Nation) in the south. This sub-region includes five First Nations communities: the Líl?wat, N’Quatqua, Samahquam, Skatin and Xa’xtsa (Douglas) Nations.

**About the role**
As Practice Manager, you’ll be steering the clinic’s services, providing leadership to a team of non-physician and non-nurse practitioner service providers for example Registered Nurses, Mental Health Clinicians, Social Workers, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Dietitian, Elders, Traditional Healers, Traditional Food Advisor and Driver. As such, you'll be fostering relational, and progressive relationships, leading the shaping and enhancement of the services the team will provide.. Under your leadership, our team will deliver a blend of Western and traditional wellness services, including mobile clinic services to N’Quatqua, Samahquam, Skatin and Xa’xtsa (Douglas) First Nations.

**Responsibilities**
- Overseeing the delivery of primary care, mental health, and substance use programming, working with community leaders and partners to develop and enhance services.
- Coordinating clinical staff and scheduling, ensuring that staffing levels meet operational needs effectively.
- Integrating quality improvement and risk management into clinic practices, evaluating any care changes, and recommending updates to policies and procedures.
- Collaborating with FNHA regional and provincial teams to provide high-standard educational services, training, and resources to clinical staff.
- Participating in local, regional, and provincial committees to contribute to improvements in healthcare service delivery, ensuring that community needs are effectively addressed.

**About you**

**Education**
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing from a recognized university.

**Occupational Certification**
- Current practicing registration with the BCCNM.

**Experience**
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in primary care, mental health, and/or substance use nursing, including 2 years of experience in a supervisory/leadership capacity.

**Knowledge**
- Well-versed in First Nations cultural principles, intersectionality, and privacy laws such as FOIPPA and PIPA, ensuring the protection of client confidentiality and rights.
- Understanding the unique challenges of rural and remote communities, facilitating tailored and effective healthcare approaches.
- Proven ability to teach, facilitate, and lead, promoting a supportive and innovative learning environment.
