Posting Description:
Directly responsible to the Working Foreman and Public Works Manager, you will carry out all Public Works general labour and associated operation of general labour equipment and machinery as required. This includes duties which include, but are not restricted to:

- operation of one-person sanitation trucks
- winter maintenance including plow and/or salt sand operations with a 5 and/or 8-ton plow truck on roads and streets, and/or sidewalk plow on sidewalks and walkways
- asphalt repairs
- boulevard maintenance
- horticulture duties, such as flower bed preparation (i.e. rototilling, shoveling, edging), watering flower beds
- sidewalk, curb and gutter construction or restoration.

Qualifications and Other Pertinent Details:

- Completion of an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma (OSSGD) or equivalent.
- Valid Class D driver’s license with a Z endorsement and the ability to obtain a valid City Driving Permit.
- At least 12 months of previous labor or construction experience.
- Proven experience and knowledge of proper work procedures, including familiarity with:

- The Occupational Health & Safety Act
- WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System)
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position.
- Must provide a clean driver’s abstract and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check as a condition of employment.

**Note**: All positions will work variable shifts based on operational needs. Shifts include days, nights, afternoons and weekends.

**Hourly Rate**: $27.70
