Reporting to the Manager of Infection Prevention and Control, the Infection Control Practitioner (ICP) will perform duties and responsibilities in accordance with the mission, vision and goals of Infection Prevention and Control program for Niagara Health. The ICP works closely with the patient care programs and support services in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of infection prevention & control practices and strategies in place, in alignment with best practice standards and guidelines. **QUALIFICATIONS**: - Degree in health sciences or regulated healthcare professional - Minimum three years experience working in Infection Prevention and Control in hospital settings - Successful completion or enrollment in infection prevention and control course endorsed by IPAC-Canada - Certified in IPAC through Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC) or commitment to write towards certification within one year of hire - Experienced in conducting investigation, infection surveillance, outbreak management and provide education across the healthcare continuum - Working knowledge of microbiology, infectious diseases, epidemiology, facility design/construction/renovation, cleaning and disinfection, reprocessing, occupational health and safety and adult education principles - Familiarity with IPAC guidelines, Accreditation and CSA standards, and applicable regulations - Able to work independently requiring mínimal supervision, shows initiative and self-directed while possessing the ability to work in a collaborative manner - Excellent verbal and communication skills - Consistent and regular attendance is required - Proficiency in both official languages (English & French) will be considered an asset - We are especially interested in connecting if you..._ - Value diversity, equity and inclusion;_ - Are excited about being part of a respectful and hard-working team in the beautiful Region of Niagara;_ - Identify as a member of one or more of the following equity-deserving groups: Indigenous persons, racialized, persons with disabilities, persons of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities and all others who may contribute to the further diversification of ideas._ - Have background or expertise in the healthcare environment, supporting patient care and providing extraordinary customer-service._ - In accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 and the Ontario Human Rights Code, Niagara Health will provide accommodations through the recruitment process to applicants with disabilities.
