**Dietary Aide**_

The Dietary Aide reports to the Nutrition Manager, the Dietary Aide will follow the policies and procedures outlined by the Ministry of Long-Term Care and other governing bodies.

**Dietary Aide Responsibilities**:

- Serves food to residents according to individual diets and preferences
- Assemble nourishment carts
- Observes time limits for meal serving
- Maintains foods at proper serving temperature
- Assists Cooks to clean and prepare such uncooked food as salads, vegetables and fruits
- Preparing such simple foods as breakfast items, basic desserts and garnishes while following recipes and production
- Clears plates and trays, loads and operates dishwasher
- Cleans pots, pans and cooking utensils as per procedure
- Participates in proper storage and labeling of dietary supplies and food, including leftovers
- Adheres to established policies, procedures regarding quality assurance and infection control
- Stocks unit serveries
- Participates in facility meetings as assigned
- Attends in-service and on-line education programs
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Current Food handler training certification.
- Current certificate as a Food Service worker. Enrolled in a Food Service Worker/ Dietary aide program or have worked in a LTC home prior to July 1, 2010.
- Comprehensive knowledge of dietary and food service practices, as well as knowledge in Infection Control Practices.
- Ability to work effectively individually and with others while prioritizing task to be completed

**MUST have a current Police Check (Vulnerable Sector).**
