**About the Role**

The Fort Erie Public Library is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to manage the library’s financial operations in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This role is critical in ensuring accurate financial reporting, payroll reconciliation, and budget monitoring while supporting the CEO and Library Board with essential financial insights.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Maintain accurate financial records in compliance with GAAP and government regulations.
- Prepare monthly financial reports, including accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and budget expenditure summaries.
- Reconcile bi-weekly payroll and administer employee benefits in collaboration with the Business Administrator (extended health, OMERS pension, WSIB).
- Process invoices, prepare payments, and manage deposits/withdrawals with proper authorization.
- Assist in annual budget preparation, monitor variances, and provide detailed reports.
- Support annual audits, ensuring accurate year-end financial closing.
- Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard organizational assets.
- Maintain postal meter records, photocopier usage logs, and petty cash management.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and timely filing of financial documents.
- Provide backup payroll administration when required.

**Qualifications & Skills**
- Education: College diploma/certificate in Accounting/Bookkeeping or related field.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of bookkeeping/accounting experience (public sector preferred).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in computerized accounting/payroll systems and strong Excel skills.
- Knowledge: Understanding of GAAP, payroll/benefits administration, and tax compliance.
- Certifications: Certified Professional Bookkeeper (CPB) or equivalent is an asset.
- Soft Skills: High attention to detail, strong organizational and time-management abilities.

**Accountability**
- Maintain confidentiality of financial and employee data.
- Ensure compliance with federal/provincial tax laws and audit requirements.
- Identify and implement process improvements for financial efficiency.

**Working Conditions**
- Part-time role (**15 hours/week**) in an office environment.
- Prolonged computer use; occasional lifting of financial records.
