**How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team**:
The Coordinator, Government and Community Relations supports the Government and Community Relations team and reports into the Government and Communication Relations Specialist. The Coordinator works with management to identify and develop new projects and opportunities, works with the Specialist and CEO’s Office to respond to Board of Director and political official requests, updates and works with relevant organizational representatives to draft Memorandums of Understanding (MOU’s) with municipal and government partners, as well as additional key stakeholders for CFOO, CEO, municipal Council, or Board approvals.
**Major Responsibilities**:
- Track and follow up on communications and requests from elected officials and Board Members in support of TRCA’s mandate.
- Support the Government and Community Relations Specialist and Senior Program Manager and Senior Manager of Communications and Marketing with partner government, agency, and community stakeholders with coordinated, cross-divisional responses to public inquiries received by their offices.
- Prepare updates on TRCA and partner programs and projects of interest within our jurisdiction to support managers regular communication with the CEO, Senior Leadership Team, Communications, Marketing and Events, and relevant TRCA staff, Board Members and elected officials, to ensure that they receive relevant information to be shared with their constituencies.
- Support managers in the development and securement of Memorandums of Understanding and other agreements as part of the corporate effort to formalize relationships with stakeholders as required.
- Prepare and gather information for agendas, prepare meeting minutes and other relevant information as needed.
- Support management who are serving on relevant governmental and partner committees and working groups where a cross-divisional TRCA perspective is needed.
- Prepare presentations as required; and
- Deliver presentations as required.
- As part of TRCA’s cross-divisional teams, support the engagement and communication efforts on major initiatives involving municipal and stakeholder consultation.
- Administer and support the TRCA Youth Council, including working with various TRCA staff to help the Youth Council develop and execute events and initiatives, draft associated social media posts, develop Youth Council update reports and present on progress to various audiences.
- Working with Clerk and Deputy Clerk support administration and steering of Regional Watershed Alliance, as needed.
**What will you need to succeed**:
- Post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in business, administration, communications, environmental studies, political science, or a related discipline, or equivalent.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license
- Three (3) years of accumulated experience in:
- partnership and stakeholder development and engagement; and/or
- an environmental sustainability role, working in a not-for-profit or governmental environment; and/or
- Coordinating and supporting corporate and/or government events or initiatives
- Self-motivated and highly organized with a demonstrated strong commitment for the delivery of high-quality customer service under tight deadlines;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the demonstrated ability to write for a variety of audiences, including experience preparing and deliver presentations;
- Computer literate and familiar with various social media platforms, Microsoft TEAMS and Microsoft Suite like Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
- Experience using virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom, Webex, Go-To-Webinar, etc.; and
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
