**Procurement Area Manager**

KEY JOB ELEMENTS:

- Manage team’s performance to delivery schedule, sales forecast and program budget
- Provide procurement guidance and support to team of Buyers and Analysts
- Provide project oversight for procurement activity
- Gather and analyze forecasting data to predict future issues
- Assume a leadership role for a variety of non-recurring special assignments and develop solutions to unusual and complex problems
- Support Production Material Control and Production and leadership meetings
- Serve as the customer interface when high-visibility shortages arise
- Keep SCM, PMC and Program management informed of developments as needed
- Develop procurement and negotiation strategies that optimize purchasing power within the supply chain
- Oversee intensive management of poor supplier delivery or quality
- Participate in the recruitment of new employees
- Approve purchase orders, travel expense reports and travel, vacation, time off and overtime requests
- Interface cross functionally to ensure successful program execution
- Ensure on-time execution of bid and proposal activities
- Encourage process innovation, continuous improvement and change
- Mentor and coach to enable professional development

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- University degree
- Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience
- Exceptional communication and organization skills
- Strong supervisory and coaching skills
- Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills, specifically Power Point and Excel
- Ability to align to changing requirements
- Ability to travel (10% Cdn) and (10% US & Int'l) and possess/be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Experience leading significant procurement activity or a major subcontract
- Experience with an MRP system
- Cross functional work experience
