**Park Technician**

43K Wilderness Solutions is looking for seasonal, full-time Park Technicians to work in our Vancouver Island Parks including Cape Scott Provincial Park and Strathcona Provincial Park. We have opportunities for all experience levels and abilities, ranging from frountcounty to remote backcountry positions.

**Company Story**

43K Wilderness Solutions is an outdoor recreation company based on Vancouver Island with offices in the Comox Valley and Port McNeill. We operate Cape Scott and Strathcona Provincial Parks, design and construct outdoor recreation facilities, and provide professional consulting and management services. Our work environment is safe, fun, supportive and results-oriented.

**Responsibilities**
- Provide excellent customer service and park visitor experience
- Work independently or in teams of 1-2 to deliver park services
- Maintain a variety of outdoor recreation facilities, including campgrounds, trails, pit toilets and Urine Diversion toilets to required Facility Standards and Specifications
- Execute workplans
- Record detailed and accurate park records
- Cash handling
- Use and maintain equipment such as brush cutters, lawn mowers, leaf blowers etc.

**Job Conditions**
- Working in unserviced and remote areas
- Working and living in rustic accommodations (cabins, yurts, tents, etc.)
- Working on 5-15 day shifts
- Hiking an average of 15km/day with a heavy backpack in some positions
- Driving on gravel roads
- Working in and around helicopters and boats
- Working in adverse weather conditions
- Must be flexible and willing to adapt to unforeseen schedule and workplan changes due to weather or other environmental conditions
- Must be willing to work weekends, evenings and holidays as required - hours of work will vary with the season
- Most positions start early June and finish on Labour Day, with a few positions starting as early as April 1

**Benefits Package**
- Competitive hourly wage ranging from $17.50-$21.00 based on experience and ability

**Relevant Qualifications**
- Customer service, hospitality, tourism experience
- A positive attitude and ability to motivate co-workers
- Cash handling
- Excellent communication skills
- Outdoor field work experience
- Backcountry hiking experience
- Basic power tool/construction experience
- Chainsaw experience
- Boating experience
- Trailer towing experience
- Natural Resource diplomas and degrees, Parks Law courses considered an asset but not required
- Class 5 Driver’s License (required for all successful applicants)
- OFA Level 1 (required for all successful applicants)
