BCIT’s **Campus Planning and Facilities** department is seeking a **regular, full-time (1.0 **FTE**) Asset Planner** to join their team. The Asset Planner leads the overall asset management strategy and implementation plan, including short-term, midterm and long-term planning and implementation, working closely with Campus Planning and Facilities (CPF) Services teams. They will provide direction to the creation and evolution of the institute’s capital maintenance project portfolio, as well as seismic and accessibility program priorities. They will carry out strategic planning, coordination, and oversight of the replacement of all tangible assets owned by the institute, such as building systems, facility spaces, equipment, and infrastructure. The Asset Planner also leads service management relationships across all client groups; engages with the BCIT community, including tenants and partners to ensure day-to-day needs are understood; represents the institute with jurisdictional authorities and other stakeholders as required.**Duties & Responsibilities**

- Participates as a member of the Director’s leadership team, providing input to development of
overarching strategies for BCIT assets led by CPF, and sharing responsibility for achievements
and success. Assists in the development of department strategies, plans, programs, policies,
procedures, practices, and standards.
- Develops and implements a comprehensive asset management strategy and plans for the
institute’s physical assets, including buildings, utility and civil infrastructure, and equipment. Asset management strategy and plans are based on the BCIT educational vision and functional needs, and informed by the building conditions, seismic, accessibility, and energy program priorities, emergency preparedness and other considerations as appropriate.
- Acts as strategic advisor and collaborates with the Director, CPF management team and business stakeholders on CPF service management matters. Delivers reports, presentations, and business cases on challenges, risks, initiatives, and achievements against key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Develops and realizes projects of varying complexity and size; leads consultants and contractors on project budgets, scope and timelines and ensures resources are identified and secured to meet business needs. Represents Facilities Services with jurisdictional authorities, regulatory bodies, municipalities, stakeholders and industry partners.
- Directs and manages minor building and infrastructure systems replacement, and provides input and advice for major capital cycle replacement priorities for the institute; reviews priorities, manages budget, and approves operating and capital purchases.
- Manages accurate records and documentation of all institute assets, including condition, location, and value; identifies potential risks related to assets and develops mitigation strategies; prepares regular reports on asset performance, maintenance activities, and budget utilization.
- Assists in the development of annual capital budgets for asset repair, and replacement; assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of divisional operating budgets in accordance with institute policies and procedures and ensures that financial goals are met or exceeded; monitors and reports out on key performance indicators.
- Supports Facilities Services team ensuring operational interests and mandate are clearly articulated in the project design process. Promotes and implements sustainability practices, including energy-efficient technologies and green building initiatives, to reduce the environmental impact of assets.
- Analyzes financial data to make informed decisions regarding asset investments and improvements; uses data analytics and reporting tools to track asset performance, assess the return on investment, and make data-driven decisions.
- Collaborates with institute-wide stakeholders, such as Campus Planning, Facilities Services, Financial services, and Academic departments, to align asset management efforts with the overall goals and mission of the institute; collaborates with Safety, Security and Emergency Management team by providing input for BCIT’s business continuity plan.
- Coordinates with institute stakeholders to confirm projects consider space allocation and utilization ensuring efficient use of facilities and resources; recommends adjustments based on changing needs.
- Collaborates and consults with internal and external stakeholders on short and long-term objectives and operational plans for Facilities Services that ensure timely achievements of deliverables and enhance the campus experience; participates as a member of designated committees and groups.
- Develops strategies for the disposal or sale of assets that are no longer needed or have reached the end of their useful life.
