Daily Rate: $126.00 - $130.00 Weekly Rate: $756.00 - $780.00

Location: YMCA Camp Pine Crest, Torrance, Ontario (Transportation to camp is available at the beginning and end of the summer)

Work Hours: Must be available to work 6 days a week between Monday - Sunday, with days off predetermined by supervisor

YMCA Camping and Outdoor Education offers outdoor experiences that foster personal growth and build community. After taking part in our programs, children and youth return home more confident, independent, and with new friendships. YMCA Camp Pine Crest is an overnight camp serving children, families, and organizations through naturally focused programs that embody the mission, vision, and outcomes of the YMCA. Camp Pine Crest is made up of 650 acres of Muskoka wilderness surrounded by 3 interconnected lakes with 8km of shoreline; has over 26km of hiking trails and 7,500 sq. ft. of dock and has 60 buildings.

The Day Camp Director is responsible for overseeing the Little Critters and Nature Explorers Day Camp Programs and supervising the Day Camp Program Head and Day Camp Counsellors facilitating them. Their primary responsibilities will be to outline expectations and provide guidance to the Day Camp Program Head to ensure the development of programming specific to campers aged 4 - 12. The Day Camp Director will also be the main liaison with families to ensure a seamless customer service experience as well as ensuring consistency program delivery from week to week. The Day Camp Director works with their team and other departments at camp to create schedules for Day Camp programs that ensure equipment and program spaces are available and maintained.

The Day Camp Director will take the lead on welcoming and building relationships with families and running the value-beads program at the end of each day. This person will balance their time between working with children, families and staff to ensure that everyone involved in the Day Camps has a fun and rewarding experience.

**In this role, you will**:

- Coordinate with the program director to plan all Day Camp programs
- Supervisory duties include providing leadership to camp staff team by training, coaching, motivating, monitoring performance and providing mid and end of summer performance appraisals to ensure staff are meeting the expectations of their role and achieving camp objectives
- Act as the first point of contact daily for each day camper and their family
- Participate in staff’s programming to help ensure dynamic, fun and safe programs
- Continuously builds relationships with members, staff, volunteers and community partners
- Responsible for overseeing the Day Camp program, coordinating programming specific to campers aged 4 - 12, communicating with families, and consistency in delivering programming from week to week
- Work with team and other departments at camp to create schedules for that ensure equipment and program spaces are available
- Running the value-beads program at the end of each day
- Perform other duties as assigned

**You bring**:

- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a child-oriented programs
- Current NLS, by first day of employment and valid until at least the last day of your contract
- Minimum 1 year’s previous experience as a supervisor (i.e. Counselling Supervisor) in a directly transferable setting
- Demonstrated ability to lead and empower an inclusive staff team
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada and be authorized to work full time hours (37.5 hours per week)
- Ability to work effectively with others and independently to achieve optimal collective results
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
- Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members, staff and volunteers
- Ability to provide mentorship and guidance to both inexperienced and seasoned staff
- Ability to deliver feedback in a timely, professional, and constructive manner
- Flexibility regarding assigned working hours, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays required
