Location: YMCA Camp Pine Crest, Torrance, Ontario (Transportation to camp is available at the beginning and end of the summer)

Work Hours: Must be available to work 6 days a week between Monday - Sunday, with days off predetermined by supervisor

YMCA Camping and Outdoor Education offers outdoor experiences that foster personal growth and build community. After taking part in our programs, children and youth return home more confident, independent, and with new friendships. YMCA Camp Pine Crest is an overnight camp serving children, families, and organizations through naturally focused programs that embody the mission, vision, and outcomes of the YMCA. Camp Pine Crest is made up of 650 acres of Muskoka wilderness surrounded by 3 interconnected lakes with 8km of shoreline; has over 26km of hiking trails and 7,500 sq. ft. of dock and has 60 buildings.

***The Wellness Director is essential in providing onsite leadership and support for the mental and physical health of the Pine Crest community, ensuring a safe and positive camp experience in accordance with Health & Safety guidelines. This role involves building strong relationships with campers, staff, and community partners while overseeing health and wellness checks, first aid assessments, and medication administration. By collaborating with the Out-Tripping Directors, the Wellness Director addresses health concerns during outdoor adventures, contributing to decision-making regarding treatment in the field. This position promotes teamwork and active listening among wellness staff, fostering a culture of problem-solving to enhance overall health at Pine Crest. By championing healthy habits and serving as a role model, the Wellness Director inspires campers and staff to embrace a healthier lifestyle.

**In this role, you will**:

- Build relationships with members, staff, volunteers, and community partners
- Provide leadership to Wellness staff and the Mental Health Specialist, ensuring ongoing constructive feedback and formalized mid-season and end-of-summer appraisals
- Lead the staff team, supporting the Camp Director and Coordinator in health and wellness training, focusing on both physical and mental health and safety
- Support campers and staff in having a positive experience at camp through regular check-ins with campers, camper groups, and counselors
- Promote the overall health and wellness of the camp community by actively providing resources and support, reviewing health forms of campers and staff, and checking in on pertinent health information requiring special attention throughout the summer
- Manage day-to-day operations of the camp wellness programs, working with wellness staff to delegate tasks, maintain inventory of medical supplies, and organize camper and stock medications
- Respond to and rectify first aid situations promptly and with care, communicating with the camp director, external healthcare staff or hospital, and parents as necessary
- Administer medications according to camper health forms and provide support to the camp out-tripping program through pre
- and post-out-trip checks, and by assisting counselors in packing and inventorying first aid kits
- Complete administrative tasks accurately and on time, ensuring all paperwork associated with the camp wellness program is filled out as required and maintaining complete records of any accidents or incidents
- Attend all staff trainings and meetings punctually, actively participating and contributing to the development of all staff members
- Ensure health and safety procedures are followed and maintained, sharing responsibilities with the staff team to keep the environment clean, organized, and safe for all campers, staff, and volunteers
- Act as a positive role model for participants and fellow staff by embodying the values of the YMCA, Pine Crest’s guiding principles, YMCA policies and procedures, and Ontario Camps Association guidelines

**You bring**:

- Completed degree in post-secondary education such as Nursing, Child and Youth Studies, or Social Work
- G Class license and Mental Health First Aid certification by the first day of employment, valid until at least the last day of your contract
- Previous experience working with children and youth in a professional wellness setting
- Minimum 21 years of age by the start of the contract
- Ability to work effectively with others and independently to achieve optimal collective results
