Our day programs provide a structured and engaging environment where participants—referred to as "friends"—develop vocational, social, and life skills tailored to their unique strengths and goals. As a **Substitute Day Program Staff**, you will work directly with our friends to support their personal growth through hands-on activities, social engagement, and community involvement. This role requires patience, adaptability, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment. You will be responsible for facilitating daily programming, assisting with personal care as needed, and encouraging skill development in areas such as communication, teamwork, and workplace readiness. **Position Overview** **Key Responsibilities** - Implement and support daily programming for individuals in the day program. - Assist participants in working toward their Individual Program Plans (IPPs) and personal goals. - Provide support with daily routines, including meal times, personal care, and mobility assistance. - Facilitate and encourage social engagement and communication among participants. - Lead or assist in structured group activities tailored to participants' interests and abilities. - Ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all individuals. - Maintain accurate documentation of participant progress and observations. - Adhere to health, safety, and emergency procedures at all times. - Collaborate with team members to ensure the smooth delivery of programming. - Assist in maintaining a clean and organized program environment. **Qualifications & Experience** **Required**: - Experience as an Educational Assistant, Disability Support Worker, or in a related role. - A valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with a flexible schedule. - A compassionate and person-centered approach to disability support. **Preferred Assets**: - First Aid & CPR certification. - Non-violent crisis intervention training. - Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities. - Familiarity with augmentative communication methods or assistive technology. **Why Join Diffabilities Inc.?** - **Flexible scheduling** - Work as needed, with the ability to accept shifts based on availability. - **Impactful work** - Support individuals in achieving greater independence and inclusion. - **Collaborative team environment** - Join a supportive and mission-driven organization. **How to Apply** We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted. **Job Types**: Part-time, Casual Pay: $17.00-$20.00 per hour Expected hours: 1 - 40 per week **Benefits**: - Casual dress - On-site parking Schedule: - 8 hour shift - Day shift - Weekends as needed Work Location: In person
