**Position Summary**

The **QA & SMS Lead and Technical Planner** plays a key role in supporting the **QA & SMS Manager** in overseeing the Quality Assurance (QA) and Safety Management System (SMS), and Quality Control (QC) programs. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards, while also taking on technical planning responsibilities to coordinate and optimize maintenance activities.

Working closely with the QA & SMS Manager, the individual will assist in audits, inspections, and the implementation of corrective actions, while also providing input into maintenance schedules to enhance operational efficiency. This position is critical in maintaining the organization’s commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

**Quality Assurance and SMS Support**
- Assist the QA & SMS Manager in managing the Quality Assurance Program, including compliance with CAR 573.04(4), CAR 573.03(1)(c) and (d), and subsection 573.03(6).
- Support the execution of audits, inspections, and investigations, and assist in implementing corrective actions to address findings.
- Manage and maintain QA-related records in alignment with company and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with the QA & SMS Manager to communicate QA and SMS results to the PRM and Accountable Executive.
- Provide assistance in liaising with Transport Canada and other regulatory bodies regarding company operations and compliance matters.
- Actively participate in and contribute to the company’s Safety Management System (SMS), promoting a positive safety culture.

**Quality Control (QC)**
- Conduct quality inspections of aircraft, components, and maintenance activities to ensure adherence to approved standards and procedures.
- Review and approve maintenance records, work packages, and inspection reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Verify that tools, materials, and equipment meet applicable quality standards.
- Provide feedback to maintenance teams regarding quality discrepancies and support corrective actions.
- Monitor compliance with Human Factors principles in maintenance operations and provide training as needed.

**Technical Planning**
- Assist in the development, management, and execution of detailed technical plans for aircraft maintenance and operations.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure efficient scheduling of inspections, repairs, and overhauls while minimizing downtime.
- Work with the QA & SMS Manager to identify and resolve technical planning challenges, ensuring resources are optimized for effective maintenance.
- Monitor the progress of maintenance activities, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

**General Duties**
- Support the QA & SMS Manager in ensuring compliance with all procedures and policies defined in the MPM.
- Act as a key point of contact for communication between teams, assisting with the dissemination of QA and SMS requirements.
- Respect and uphold all company policies, procedures, and performance expectations.

**In the Absence of QA & SMS Manager**
- Assist the PRM in assuming duties temporarily, ensuring the responsibilities of the QA & SMS Manager are fulfilled as needed.

**Qualifications and Skills**

**Minimum Requirements**
- Post-secondary education in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years of progressively responsible aircraft maintenance experience.
- 3-5 years of Canadian QA and SMS experience.
- Specialized QA/QC audit training.
- AME License holder from Transport Canada.
- Knowledge of and compliance with CARs (Canadian Aviation Regulations).

**Proven Success in**:

- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Collaboration and interaction with employees at all organizational levels.
- Coaching employees and management on complex and sensitive issues.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and multi-tasking abilities.
- Supervisory responsibilities, including monitoring and realigning staffing assignments.
- Proficient use of computer systems, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Understanding Human Factors in maintenance operations.

**Additional Requirements**
- Ability to work flexible hours, including night shifts, to meet the needs of a 24/7 business.
- Eligibility to work in Canada.
- Ability to acquire and maintain a Restricted Airside Identification Card (RAIC) and Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit (AVOP).
- Clean criminal record and valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to complete pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing as required.
- Valid passport for travel as needed.

Pay: $53,947.09-$80,000.00 per year
