BCIT’s **School of Health Sciences**is seeking a **regular, full-time (1.0**FTE**) Simulation Operations Lead.**This position works closely with the Simulation team, faculty and staff supporting the strategic direction of the School of Health Sciences Simulation Program. Collaborates and partners with the other leaders of clinical and professional/academic disciplines, as well as, internal and external community partners, faculty (teaching and non-teaching), and specialists. Leads the day-to-day operations for the simulation program in the planning, implementation, and evaluation for the provision of high-quality simulation with a focus on education, research, innovation, quality, and healthcare system advancement.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Collaborates with the Simulation Manager and Leads to operationalize simulation technology, equipment and activities and, promotes the ongoing support for the use of simulation technology. Develops and implements continuous quality improvement activities for the simulation program.
- Develops ideas for an innovative research and design study protocol through collaboration-based work and identifies funding sources; collects data for ongoing research/grant requirements; fosters research activities utilizing simulation-based approaches at the local, national and international levels.
- Liaises with a broad spectrum of internal and external community partners to promote and implement a shared vision and realistic simulation program in alignment with the strategic plan, mandate vision and goals of the SoHS.
- Acts as an expert resource when collaborating and participating with faculty in the evaluation of simulation programs in accordance with best practice standards for simulation and identifies opportunities for improvement, innovation and integration into existing health care curricula.
- Prioritizes and aligns business case development, including performing current state assessments and gap analysis on simulation technology initiatives and identifies budgetary needs for implementing new simulation technology. Supports the team in writing grant submissions and business cases for healthcare simulation operations programs and activities.
- Collects and analyses data for annual evaluations of simulation equipment and makes recommendations for acquisition of healthcare simulation equipment, software and related simulation resources.
- Works closely with simulation technicians/technologists in the development, monitoring and implementation of training and orientation best practices and standards. These are informed by the latest evidence in instructional technology and simulation operations.
- Designs, develops and updates workshop materials for faculty and staff for simulation technology integration, including content for the Simulation Faculty Pathway (SimPath) as required.
- Ensures the maintenance, inventory and repairs of all simulation equipment, including patient simulators, computers, monitors and a variety of medical equipment are documented and maintained. Provides recommendations for purchase / replacement of equipment, supplies and materials.
- Ensures and coordinates simulation center schedule complies with simulation center policies to prevent scheduling conflicts and/or incidents. Responds to any incidents and takes any follow up action as required.
- Collaborates with the SoHS simulation team to ensure educators working with simulation technology are familiar and confident in their use and provides coaching for novice and developing faculty/staff.
- Supports all faculty and staff for development of simulation technology expertise through formal and informal learning opportunities and scholarship activities.
- Collaborates with Simulation manager in the co-ordination of external events and partnerships. Attends and participates in workshops to keep current on educational theory and practice in the use of simulation technology in health science education.
- Participates an effective team member on committees, special projects and task forces, as required.

**Qualifications**

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Instructional Technology, or related discipline. Master’s degree preferred.
- Current simulation education credential - Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE), or Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) preferred.
- Commitment to obtain CHSOS within two years of hire date.

**Experience**:

- A minimum of five (5) years’ recent, related experience in health care simulation, instructional technology, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

**Computer Applications & Experience**:

- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, experience generating reports and using project management tools.
