Since 2014 Golf Canada Foundation’s major gift Trustee program has funded the development pathway for Canadian golf and helped develop Canadian stars like Corey Conners and Brooke Henderson. It has also established a transformational junior development program in First Tee - Canada. The Trustee network connects individuals and companies who want to give back to the game with programs that have a major impact on the future of the sport through five key areas: junior golf, women’s golf, collegiate golf, high-performance golf, and heritage programs. Donors can connect with each other and program beneficiaries at events that showcase local grassroots initiatives like First Tee chapter events or major events like the Canadian Opens and Presidents Cup. The Director of Major Gifts will lead the donor acquisition and stewardship of the Trustee program, and work as a team in conjunction with the Development Director of First Tee, the Director of Events, the CEO, First Tee staff and additional key roles across Golf Canada in recruiting and stewarding donors across the Foundation. PRIMARY DUTIES: Oversee Golf Canada Foundation Trustee Program Fundraising: 70% - Work with the Foundation CEO and the Foundation Board on developing and executing the fundraising growth strategy; - Lead and manage donor stewardship activities with existing and prospective donors, including hosting opportunities at Foundation and external events, networking events, fundraisers, and our signature donor recognition event, the Trustee Cup; - Develop a prospect list to connect with interested donors to sign multi-year gift agreements - Attend Foundation events (e.g. RBC Canadian Open, CPKC Women’s Open, Trustee Cup) and network with existing donors and prospects; - Work with First Tee development staff on stewarding new and existing First Tee donors - Engage Golf Canada’s Amateur Championships team and host clubs on fundraising around championship events, and prepare follow-up plans for club members post-event; - Connect with provincial sports organizations on fundraising efforts through the Golf Canada Foundation, and donor communication at provincial events; - Follow up on board and donor referrals, track and report on results. Reporting and Communications: 15% - Take a lead role in donor communication, working with the team on event details, impact reports, website updates, and annual reports; - Consult with Board members to engage and steward Board networks; - Assist in the creation of cases to support all Trustee promotional collateral; - Communicate relevant program updates to the Foundation Board of Directors and Golf Canada Board of Directors as required;Assist in communication activities for donor spotlights, program openings, special events, newsletters, printed and digital materials. Administration: 15% - Manage personal donor administration and oversee CRM tracking for gifts, pledges, invoicing, and payments; along with stewardship and tax receipts; - Work with the Foundation team on updating and providing feedback to the Trustee donor portal; - Update donor contact information in the database to track donor engagement and produce reports; - Share in the development of the Foundation’s yearly event plan, work with First Tee chapters on event plans as necessary; - Represent the Foundation in department meetings with Golf Canada to foster alignment and collaboration.
