**The Opportunity**
We are seeking a mechanically-inclined Lead Hand who will act as the right hand to our Puslinch Site Manager. The majority of your time will be spent working along side the Site Manager to organize work flow, delegate tasks, train new team members, working with associates to to solve problems, perform and/or coordinate site maintenance (property, building, and equipment). You'll also act as a backup for the Site Manager when they are away.
The Lead Hand is a customer-facing role therefore everything you do will be guided by our core values of having a safe and healthy environment that is client and customer focused.
**The Ins and Outs of the Job**
Reporting directly to the Site Manager, the Lead Hand is directly responsible for:
- Being a role model by following Bryan's policies and procedures, and being accountable for your decisions.
- Communicating respectfully with consignors and customers.
- Working collaboratively with the Site Manager to ensure the site is running smoothly.
- Participating in daily department meetings to assign, evaluate, and prioritize workload.
- Delegating daily tasks, work, and other responsibilities to associates as needed.
- Training new team members on intake, inventory, viewing, and load out procedures.
- Coordinating with the Site Manager to assess employee performance, employee relations issues, training effectiveness, and other issues.
- Coordinating with the Site Manager and Human Resources Manager to ensure team members are trained and certified on equipment such as forklifts, load lifters, telehandlers, pallet jacks, walkies, and lift trucks.
- Planning and organizing the yard set up to ensure the property is safe and space is used efficiently.
- Completing or arranging for regular, seasonal and emergency yard, building, and equipment maintenance.
- Coordinating annual inspections for all Bryan's-owned equipment.
- Collaborating with the Inventory Manager to ensure all consignment items are accurate and follow Company procedure.
- Working alongside the associates to receive, inventory, and load out consignments.
- Ensuring that keys, manuals, and other important documents are kept safe.
- Coordinating traffic control, parking, and inventory control procedures for viewing days.
- Coordinating with the Site Manager and consignment team to organize pickup appointments and ensure necessary plans are in place for large equipment and container pickups.
- Maintaining a safety plan for assisting customers to load purchased items.
- Responding to customer inquires and concerns about purchased products, suggest necessary resolutions to the Site Manager or General Manager.
- Continually increasing and expanding upon your knowledge by maintaining in-depth equipment knowledge, changes to industry trends, and best practices relevant to your position.
- Working according to the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and Bryan’s health and safety policies and procedures.
- Performing all duties with careful consideration to safeguard your health and safety, and that of your coworkers.
- Completing other duties as assigned.

- Have a wide breadth of experience and interest in passenger vehicles, lawn and garden equipment, and heavy equipment.
- Understand that the foundations of strong employee and customer relationships are built on integrity, authenticity, and consistency.
- Are highly organized and able to prioritize in order to manage your time and resources effectively.
Your education and career path are likely to have culminated in:
- Completion of high school or equivalent lived experience.
- 1-3 years experience in a Lead Hand or Supervisory role
- AZ/DZ license or the ability to become licensed.
- Ability to safely an competently operate a forklift, load lifter, and telehandler
