The NAFC is seeking two part-time Research Assistants to provide research and analytical support. **This is a one-year term position.**

The ability to work in both official languages and an Indigenous language is an asset. Depending on the applicant’s qualifications, this position’s compensation will be an hourly rate between $30-$35.

**Research Assistant (Part time)**
**Job Overview**
An integral member of NAFC’s Policy and Research team, the Research Assistant provides research and analytical support in the form of research recruitment activities, research engagement support, survey development, evaluation development, and general research support. To build capacity within urban Indigenous communities, Research Assistant will conduct community-driven research that supports the diverse missions and visions of the Friendship Centre Movement.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Project support for Indigenous approaches to engagements, urban Indigenous housing research project support, New Journeys website support, survey development;
- Gather and analyze information on demographic, economic, social, and political topics of relevance to urban Indigenous people and communities;
- Compile and provide analysis of information on issues specific to urban Indigenous people;
- Assist with Community-Driven research projects;
- Write and edit materials for publication and presentation;
- Participate in the planning and execution of research proposals and projects;
- Gather and analyze information on demographic, economic, social, and political topics of relevance to urban Indigenous people and communities;
- Meet regularly with supervisor to discuss research assignments;
- Assist in writing reports, presentations and briefing materials as required; and
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**
- Strong research and writing skills; such as experience with transcription writing and survey development;
- Prior experience in research, data collection, and analysis, including strong knowledge of research methodologies;
- Willingness to learn new skills and keep track of individual progress;
- Demonstrated analytical and strategic thinking;
- Comprehensive knowledge of software and data management tools, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams), Smartsheet, Survey Monkey, and Zoom;
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills;
- Flexibility and adaptability with tasks
- Knowledge and understanding of NAFC’s priorities, mandate, organizational structure, and the Friendship Centre Movement is an asset;
- Minimum 3 years of experience working with urban Indigenous communities;
- A master’s degree in a relevant field, such as social sciences, Indigenous studies, or a related discipline; Or alternatively a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required skills and abilities;
- Must be able to travel across Canada and Internationally, if needed.
- The ability to work in both official languages and an Indigenous language is an asset.
