**The Position**:
Milling Center Leadhand

**Position Summary**:
The Lead Hand ensures that the production team achieves manufacturing goals of 1) on-time delivery 2) continuous flow 3) customer satisfaction and 4) zero defects, maintaining product quality, shipping, safety, and will work with Supervisors and shop floor employees to coordinate production schedules. Other responsibilities will include the operation of various types of machinery, as well as troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of machinery, and any necessary assigned work.

**Job Summary**:
Day Shift Lead Hand directs, coordinates day shift workers’ activities and oversees their work and progress.

**Main Duties**:

- Promoting & assuring a safe and participative work environment.
- Performs tasks strictly in compliance with all Safety & Health requirements.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and other work instructions
- Perform tasks in compliance with the instructions from their Supervisor.
- Direct, coordinate shift workers’ activities.
- Load and unload parts
- Identify potential causes for parts that do not meet specifications.
- Perform routine visual and operational inspection on the equipment and machinery and making sure they are in good order
- Complete required documentation.
- Responsible for cleaning and organizing of used tools, equipment and workstation
- Coordination of production employees
- Ensure that work orders are completed in a timely fashion
- Requisition necessary parts, supplies and services
- Maintain product quality
- Operate various types of machinery as required
- Train staff as required
- Identify and implement improvements with Product line Supervisor
- Verify dimensions of parts machined using micrometers, calipers and other precision measuring instruments.
- Provide instructions, guidelines and training to CNC Mills Operators on the sequence of operations and oversees their work and progress.
- **Specific Skills**:

- Read and interpret blueprints.
- Understand principles of Computer Numerical Controls.
- Operate and set-up CNC Lathes/Mills to perform repetitive machining operations.
- Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g. micrometers, calipers).
