**What you will do**
As part of the Communications Department, the Translation Services team ensures that the Bank of Canada communicates effectively with its various Francophone audiences, both internal and external. You will play a key role in achieving this mission, working closely with a team of 18 other language professionals. You will translate general and specialized texts from English to French mostly independently, ensuring Translation Services’ quality standards and deadlines are met.

You will also:

- contribute regularly to the translation of the Bank’s publications, speeches, technical economic texts and other high visibility material under the supervision of a Translator-Reviser
- revise, as needed, the output of colleagues or external service providers and provide linguistic advice to Bank staff, including management
- actively manage special translation projects, thinking innovatively to find solutions to problems
- be occasionally called upon to coordinate the proofreading of specific publications.

**What you need to succeed**
As an experienced Translator, you are proficient in both the source and target languages (English and French) and have a strong knowledge of translation, revision and adaptation techniques.

In addition:

- you have solid research skills, are thorough and detail-oriented, and exercise sound judgment
- you have strong analytical skills and a constant desire to learn
- you can work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and occasionally work overtime
- you are able to work effectively independently as well as within a team

You also demonstrate the Bank’s core competencies in your day-to-day activities and interactions. In particular:

**Nice-to-have**
- Work experience as a Translator in a structured and fairly large translation services unit
- Experience in economic and financial translation
- Strong knowledge of computer-assisted translation tools, especially LogiTerm
- Certified Translator from English to French (Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec or Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario)

**Your education and experience**
The position requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in translation from English to French, with a minimum of three to five years of experience as a Translator and proven ability to translate high quality texts without revision. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
