**General Summary**:The Sales Manager is the face of our Store They are expected to be present in every aspect of the day-to-day business, both leading by example and developing their team. The Sales Manager is accountable for all the Stores KPIs including sales, conversion, payroll productivity, and shrink. A positive attitude, leadership mindset and a team building approach to business are a must. The Sales Manager must be entrepreneurially minded and take advantage of opportunities that are present in the business. The Sales Manager takes responsibility for their own training and development
- Reports to the Regional Manager

**Sales and Customer Service**
- Be the face of the business
- Be present on the Sales Floor with a positive, outgoing and encouraging attitude
- Share with customers what is going on in the Store today (sales, feature products, upcoming events, environmental causes, and initiatives)
- Personally, model sales and customer service standards
- Drive sales by developing personal relationships with customers and stakeholders
- Gracefully transition sales to your selling team when appropriate
- Motivate team to reach sales and performance targets daily, weekly and monthly
- Train, develop and hold your sales team accountable to core customer service and selling standards

**Merchandising**
- Be personally responsible for the appearance of your store at all times
- Use sales reporting resources to continually assess performance of displays
- Coach and hold the team accountable to sales floor maintenance standards
- Hang signage to Elements’ standards
- Tell a consistent story when merchandising
- Assess displays for abundance and clarity
- Identify and encourage merchandising talent within your store
- Work seamlessly with Patagonia corporate merchandising team and give full support of the store when they are on site

**Store Operations**
- Understand, operate and train POS and Store Ops systems
- Direct fulfilment of incoming Web orders. Monitor fulfillment process and be accountable for accuracy, adjusting physical inventory as needed
- Oversee Warranty and Repair process in Store and give best possible customer service
- Use customer Wishlist to increase sales and customer satisfaction. Hold team accountable to core customer service standards

**Communication**
- Respond to communication in a timely manner up and down the accountability chain
- Answer phones in a welcoming manner stating your name and location
- Provide thoughtful and professional daily sales feedback via the Daily Sales Report
- Hold staff accountable to all internal and external communication standards
- Pass on all inquiries for marketing, business to business collaboration, environmental initiatives and large group or corporate sales to the corporate team
- Communicate corporate directives to staff and hold them accountable
- Participate constructively in touch base conversations with staff and the Regional Manager

**Marketing**
- Work with the Marketing Coordinator to produce local content for social media channels
- Pass marketing opportunities that present themselves at the Store level up the chain for consideration
- Assess marketing opportunities at the Store level and collaborate with Marketing Coordinator and Regional Manager to bring opportunities to fruition
- Support In Store Events in conjunction with the Marketing Coordinator and Regional Manager
- Be aware of social media and marketing across all channels. Be able to educate staff and customers accordingly

**Staff and Scheduling**
- With the Regional Manager manage and schedule Staff for productivity to support the needs of the business
- Support hiring and recruiting in line with the needs of the business

**Staff Training and Development**
- Schedule 1:1 with Staff monthly or as needed to address training and development
- Schedule 1:1 with ASM bi-weekly to discuss collaboration, training, development and the work of the building
- Execute new hire onboarding, deliver and schedule training plans
- Pursue your own training based on your own growth and development plan
- Develop Selling Skills/Contests and Scavenger Hunts for staff engagement and development
- Conduct Performance reviews when appropriate
- Issue Conversation records as behavior and performance dictate
- Develop a corrective action plan and hold staff accountable when necessary

**Inventory Management**
- Have a deep knowledge of the Store’s inventory, know what is in stock and what is on the come
- Communicate with Inventory manager to help manage short falls and excess inventory
- Monitor shrink and use inventory control best practices to ensure profitability
- Give feedback to the Inventory and Regional Managers regarding best sellers, slow movers and seasonal buys
- Suggest alternative items to address inventory shortages in key product areas

**Financial**
- Open/Close registers consistent with Patagonia Calgary's proces
