**The Opportunity**

We are seeking one (1) full-time, term Education Coordinator who is responsible for assisting in the weekly operations of educational services and programs offered by Assiniboine Park Conservancy (APC). The Education Coordinator is responsible for implementing engaging and interactive programming at the Assiniboine Park, Zoo and The Leaf. They are also responsible for developing new programming to suit the needs of APC visitors.

Programming includes school and public tours, workshops, Zoo camp, homeschool days, outreach, etc. Education Coordinators will also help guide Program Instructors and Camp Counsellors to implement seasonal programs.

**Responsibilities**
- Deliver high quality, creative and entertaining interpretative lectures, PowerPoint presentations, workshops and outreach programs to a diverse audience in a broad spectrum of ages.
- Develop an extensive knowledge of the Assiniboine Park and all its amenities (Zoo, Gardens, Galleries, The Leaf), as well as relevant programming information.
- Ensure that programming venues are organized, clean, and free of clutter. Ensure that supplies are re-stocked for those using the shared space.
- Maintain materials and supplies, including stocking supplies for program activities, ordering and distributing supplies and assist others who may need assistance in preparing of materials for day’s programming.
- Assist in the development of new and existing group programs, tours, camp activities, presentations and workshops.

**Required Qualifications and Experience**
- A bachelor’s degree in recreation, education, (environmental) sciences or other related field.
- Must have a minimum of one to two years’ experience as an instructor, tour guide, or program facilitator.
- Current First Aid and CPR recognized by Labour and Regulatory Services - Workplace, Safety and Health.
- Must possess a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Excellent proficiency with computer programs including Microsoft Office software.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.

**Physical Demands and Working Conditions**
- Physically demanding and repetitive tasks.
- Must be able to perform physically strenuous work outdoors in all types of weather.
- Combination of sitting, standing, pushing, lifting, kneeling and walking for extended periods.
- Capable of handling heavy loads of up to 25-40 lbs.
- Must be able to push/pull 50-200 lbs.
- Noise exposure from operations, mechanical equipment and animal vocalizations.
- Exposure to strong scents from animals and chemical products.
- Contact with plants and animals which may cause allergic reactions.
- The majority of the time is spent working indoors, with ample amount working outdoors in all types of weather.
