HR Generalist

Annis, O’Sullivan, Vollebekk Ltd. (AOV) is a privately-owned, independent, multi-disciplined Professional Land Surveying firm based in the Ottawa area. _

**We are seeking an HR Generalist to join our energetic and talented team. Reporting to AOV’s President, you will have the opportunity to manage strategic HR planning, employee engagement and development, full cycle recruitment, and much more as you oversee the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department with the support of our HR Assistant**

**Accountabilities**
- Liaise as the senior HR point of contact for both management and staff at all sites;
- Provide direction and hands-on delivery in the areas of recruitment, onboarding, salary administration, benefits and GRSP administration, workplace counselling, training and development, organizational change, conflict resolution techniques and employee relations;
- Manage the presentation, selection, offer, negotiation, closing, and administrative components involved in full-cycle recruiting;
- Provide guidance and support in employee relations matters including performance management, conflict resolution, attendance management, return to work and progressive discipline;
- Understand the environment, the organization, the employees, and their challenges;
- Collaborate with HR Assistant to ensure that all HR transactional and administrative end to end processes are working effectively and efficiently;
- Develop and maintain business relationships that assist with the promotion and development of HR services;
- Collaborate with Senior leaders to ensure HR alignment with the departmental objectives;
- Implement strategic HR initiatives and make recommendations for ongoing improvement;
- Ensure timely, clear communication on HR projects, news, and updates to employees;
- Maintain HR knowledge and analyze data. Provide data driven advice and information to Managers;
- Complete biweekly payroll as needed, including entering new employees into system, processing terminations, calculating vacation payouts, issuing ROEs, etc.

**Required Qualifications**

**Education**
- University degree or college diploma majoring in Human Resources or equivalent;
- Human Resources designation (e.g. CHRP, CHRL);
- Ongoing continuous professional development.

**Experience**
- 7+ years of experience in a Generalist level role;
- Experience working as a strategic HR resource in a growing organization;
- Experience in mergers and acquisitions a strong asset;
- Experience mentoring and overseeing HR staff;
- Experience with Payroll software, Project Management Software and Human Resources Information and Training Software (Experience using BambooHR and HRdownloads is a strong asset).

**Knowledge/Skills/Abilities**
- Knowledge of, and commitment to using best practices in Human Resources;
- Thorough knowledge of, and ability to stay up-to-date on relevant legislation such as Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Human Rights etc.;
- Strong conflict resolution and mediation skills;
- Ability to proactively manage self and others in a rapidly changing organization;
- Ability to work on multiple competing priorities and adaptable to changing priorities;
- Valid drivers license and ability to travel to all AOV Group work locations for site visits.
