**JOB TITLE**: Manager, Mental Health Programs

**REPORTS TO**: Director of Housing-Community Programs

**THE OPPORTUNITY**:
We are offering a rewarding opportunity to join an organization that is passionately dedicated in providing professional services. This position will provide oversight to our Mental Health staff, helping them to build strong relationships with our clients, and with all allied stakeholders. The Mental Health Manager will participate as a member of the management team to ensure services are effective & consistent with PHS’s mandate, philosophy, contractual, budgetary, and legislative requirements. They will work with their team, and the society at large to represent and advance the needs, wishes, and best interests of our mental health clients.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- A minimum of five years supervisory experience, preferably in a non-profit setting focused on provision of health and housing services to persons with mental illness.
- A graduate degree in Social Services, Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, MBA, MA Leadership, or Nursing/Healthcare. OR a bachelor’s degree, with a commensurate amount of professional experience.
- A valid BC driver’s license and access to personal vehicle for business related purposes.
- Standard First Aid & CPR.
- Non-Violence Crisis Intervention Training.
- Naloxone Training.
- Trauma Informed Practice.
- Successful clearance of a criminal record check.

**SKILLS AND ABILITIES**
- Well-developed oral and communication skills.
- Ability to create and maintain a team approach to program delivery.
- Demonstrated expertise in dealing successfully with persons with mental illness.
- Strong background and working knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation processes.
- In-depth understanding of administrative functions; budget preparation and financial management.
- Excellent computer skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Office suite programs.
- Extensive experience and demonstrated success in time management, problem solving, conflict resolution and consensus building.
- Ability to lead, coach, train and mentor staff and clients to achieve to the best of their abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain constructive working relationships with tenants, community groups, government agencies and the public.

**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Organizes, directs and controls the day to day operations of the mental health programs.
- Supervises, trains, and conducts performance management for mental health program staff.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with members of the Board of Directors, individuals using PHS services, advocates, client family members, funders, volunteers, community groups, staff and the general public.
- Collaboratively works with community agencies, government officials, associations and working groups to improve and maintain high standards of client care.
- Develops long range and strategic plans for the Mental Health Department
- Prepares the operating budget for mental health programs, and oversees expenses to ensure actual costs are within the budget outlined.
- Prepares statistics for reporting on performance and spending to funders.
- Performs assessments and coordinates the placement of clients referred to PHS.
- Monitors the service delivery of workers for structure consistency, quality of guidance of clients and suitability of activities.
- Develops standards for documentation, and teaches all staff so they can maintain compliance to these standards.
- Discusses problem situations, and attends special case conferences & client discharge meetings.
- Ensures all professional, licensing or other accreditation requirements are in place to satisfy legal, regulatory and other requirements.
- Participates in appropriate associations, forums and networks to ensure clients needs are represented.
- May work front line duties, provide after hours coverage, work evenings and weekends, supervise volunteers, network and liaise with stakeholders, respond to urgent requests, provide coverage to Director during absence and other appropriate management responsibilities as required and directed by the Director.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $60,000.00-$68,000.00 per year

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
